Smart.Vet is Now VetWise! As of August 1, 2025, Smart.Vet became VetWise. While our name has changed, our mission and team remain the same. We're still the trusted company you know, just with a fresh new look and name that better reflects who we are and where we're headed. About Us: VetWise is a provider of virtual care services in the veterinary industry, offering innovative solutions to problems facing veterinary professionals. We are dedicated to collaborating with animal hospitals by enhancing their in-person services, extending care availability and easing the workload on brick-and-mortar practices. Our goal is to support overburdened hospitals by providing patient care when it's needed most, whether during regular hours or after. We’re not here to compete—we're here to collaborate. While we've grown, we maintain a "mom and pop" culture and mentality, valuing personal relationships, and fostering a close-knit, supportive work environment. Position Overview: We’re looking for a driven, curious, and self-motivated Business Development Associate to help grow VetWise’s presence with veterinary clinics across Canada. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on starting conversations, uncovering needs, and turning prospects into long-term partners. The right person is a critical thinker who can navigate ambiguity, ask thoughtful questions, and find creative paths forward without waiting to be told what to do next. If you’re a true self-starter who loves the challenge of building something from the ground up, you’ll feel right at home here. Key Responsibilities: - Prospect and generate new leads through outbound outreach, research, and follow-up with veterinary clinics and hospitals. - Deliver engaging product demonstrations and introductory calls that clearly communicate the value of VetWise’s virtual care services. - Qualify opportunities, manage the early stages of the sales cycle, and move prospects toward a confident decision to partner with us. - Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of leads, conversations, and next steps in our CRM, HubSpot. - Think critically about objections, roadblocks, and prospect feedback, then bring thoughtful solutions and ideas back to the team. - Collaborate closely with internal teams (operations, clinical, product, and account management) to ensure a smooth handoff and a seamless customer experience. - Stay current on veterinary industry trends, competitor offerings, and client pain points to sharpen your pitch over time. - Please note that this role may require some cold calling. Qualifications: - 2+ years of experience in sales, business development, customer-facing, or client success roles. - Experience within the veterinary industry is strongly preferred (even a few volunteer hours at a clinic, shelter, or rescue counts). - Strong critical thinking skills - you can read a situation, weigh the options, and make smart decisions without needing a playbook for every scenario. - A true self-starter who takes ownership, manages their own time, and moves work forward independently in a remote environment. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport quickly. - Comfort with rejection, persistence in follow-up, and a positive attitude toward the ups and downs of a sales role. - Proficiency, or a quick ability to learn HubSpot and other standard sales tools. - A bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Animal Science, Healthcare, or a related field is an asset but not required. What We Offer: - Flexible remote work environment. - Opportunity to work with a passionate and dedicated team. - Comprehensive benefits package. - Room to grow - this role provides opportunities to grow into more senior sales responsibilities as you develop within the position. Schedule: - 40 hours per week Monday to Friday Compensation: - Base salary of $40,000 – $50,000 annually plus commission. If you’re a sharp, self-driven problem-solver who loves animals and wants to help shape the future of how veterinary care is delivered and supported across Canada, we’d love to hear from you. At VetWise, you won’t just be selling a service, you’ll be helping clinics reclaim their time, support their teams, and provide better care for the pets and families who count on them. Join us and be part of a team that truly cares about the work we do and the people we do it with!
