Role Description To support our growing business across the breadth of our portfolio, we are looking for a self-motivated hands-on Field Service Engineer with proven Electro/Mechanical troubleshooting abilities, ideally to be based in or around Baltimore, Maryland, covering the Mid-Atlantic area. Working remotely, you will be enthusiastic, committed and ready to take responsibility for coordinating and managing your own time to ensure emergency/preventive maintenance service calls are prioritised and followed through to completion. Excellent customer facing skills are required. While the primary area served by this new position will be the Mid-Atlantic area, successful candidates will be expected to travel on occasion to cover for our other regions across the US. Candidates should anticipate on average, about 50% overnight travel. On occasion this role may need to provide coverage for more extended periods in other US territories. Close proximity to a major airport will be considered a plus. International travel will be required for training purposes. This vacancy presents an opportunity to provide on-site support for an exciting range of new products and will therefore best suit candidates seeking a varied, challenging and stimulating work experience. Key Responsibilities - Scheduling and performing territory service work such as on-site installation and preventative maintenance. - Performing emergency service (territory) repair visits. - Providing remote telephone assistance. - Being available to travel at short notice in order to support other Field Service Engineers when needed. - Timely completion of all required documentation. - Communicating any product quality issues to the appropriate persons. - Working closely with Territory Sales personnel and Field Applications Specialists. - Responsible for account management, ensuring a high degree of customer satisfaction. - Obtaining and communicating leads, identifying post-instrument sales, upgrades, and consumables. Qualifications - Previous Experience with electro-mechanical and automated systems, ideally within the pharmaceutical/healthcare sectors. - Previous experience of working with Liquid Handling products would be advantageous. - Strong customer focus. - Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to workload. - Education equivalent of at least an Associates degree or previous experience in an engineering discipline. - Highly organised with excellent follow-up skills. - Self-motivated, team player. - Ability to travel on short notice. - Valid Passport. Internal Support - Contribute to conference strategy and attend conferences. - Maintain Salesforce recordkeeping. Marketing - Seek and deliver a targeted amount of marketing content in the form of customer-driven applications notes, webinars, and conference-presentations, including posters - Participate in strategic collaborations to regularly deliver scientific content for marketing. - Collect customer feedback (product development, software, etc). - Maintain positive customer relationships. - Mentor and provide guidance to Associate FAS, as needed. Skills & Attributes - MSc with at least five years’ practical experience or a PhD and at least two years practical experience in a Biological Science discipline, liquid handling, laboratory automation or related field in an industry or academic environment. - Working knowledge of NGS methods used in research, with experience using liquid handling and automation being preferable (HTS, Assay Development, or molecular or structural biology backgrounds will also be considered) - Experience with workflow optimization in genomics, drug discovery, and structural biology. - Good understanding of genomics, drug discovery, and structural biology. - Practical experience with genomics/molecular biology is desirable. - Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%), including internationally. - Amiable personality; excellent organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, record-keeping, and communication skills; professional demeanour. - Previous experience in field applications, teaching, marketing or customer service a plus. - Leadership ability with a demonstrated record of mentorship. - Ability to work efficiently and both independently and within a team structure. - Ability to work toward corporate goals. - Excellent presentation and training skills. • You'll be based in and covering the Southern California region and have overall responsibility and oversight for the sales success of our liquid handling product range. • You'll be a highly organized, proactive Sales Manager with a strong Life Sciences background and solid knowledge of the lab automation/liquid handling product market. • Leveraging our customer database to drive a focused US sales strategy, with clear, measurable objectives and execution plans. • Organizing work time according to the priorities defined to achieve own goals and those defined by the company. • Ensuring the development and follow-up of all opportunities by being able to build a balance between different product lines to sell and to manage an efficient sales collaboration with product specialists. • Building a consultative relationship and becoming a trusted advisor with our customers by a structured commercial approach based above all on the accumulation of information to propose the most adequate solution for their business. • Knowing how to position SPT solutions in relation to end-user’s workflows and explaining above all the benefits of the proposed solutions by using all the available communication tools (website, brochure, slide deck, application notes, videos,). • Ensuring that application knowledge is maintained at an optimal level by relying on the support functions (training, binomial tour, e-learning).
