Software QA Tester
Skilled Wound CareWound surgeons that specialize in ensuring that nursing home patients heal and wounds thrive.
Role Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Software QA Tester to join our engineering organization and help ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of our healthcare software products. You will work hands-on with our in-house developed applications — with a primary focus on our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and our end-to-end Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) platform — testing new features, validating bug fixes, and helping the development team ship software that providers, billers, and administrators can rely on. This role is well-suited for an experienced QA professional looking to grow within a healthcare-focused engineering team, or for a recent computer science / software engineering graduate who wants to get hands-on exposure to real-world software development by starting on the QA side. You will partner directly with developers, product managers, and other QA team members to clarify requirements, design test cases, execute test runs, and provide clear, actionable feedback that drives product quality forward. Key Responsibilities - Execute manual test cases against new features, bug fixes, and regression suites across our EHR, RCM, and billing applications. - Read and interpret feature requirements, user stories, and design specifications to develop clear, repeatable test plans and test cases. - Perform functional, regression, exploratory, cross-browser, and basic usability testing on web-based applications. - Reproduce reported issues, identify clear steps to reproduce, and document defects with sufficient detail (environment, data, screenshots, logs, expected vs. actual behavior) for the development team to act on quickly. - Track, prioritize, and manage tickets and test progress in JIRA, including filing well-formed bug reports and verifying fixes. - Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, refinement, retrospectives) and provide quality input on user stories and acceptance criteria. - Collaborate closely with developers throughout the development cycle — not just at the end — to catch issues early and reduce rework. - Validate workflows that span both clinical (EHR) and financial (RCM/billing) sides of the platform, ensuring data flows correctly end-to-end (e.g., from documentation through charge capture, claim generation, payment posting, and reporting). - Maintain organized test documentation, including test cases, test data, and results, so that knowledge is shared across the team. - Help uphold our HIPAA-aligned security and privacy practices during testing, including responsible handling of any PHI or PHI-like test data. - Continuously look for opportunities to improve QA processes, test coverage, and tooling. Qualifications - 2–5 years of experience testing software platforms in a professional environment, OR Equivalent hands-on exposure to the software development process. - Demonstrated ability to think critically, break down workflows, and approach software testing systematically. - Solid understanding of how software is built and shipped, including version control, build/release cycles, and the general roles of developers, QA, and product within an engineering team. - Strong understanding of fundamental QA concepts: test cases, test plans, regression testing, smoke testing, exploratory testing, and the software development lifecycle. - Ability to write clear, concise, and reproducible bug reports with appropriate detail and severity/priority assessment. - Comfort testing modern web applications across major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) and screen sizes. - Basic familiarity with reading and writing simple SQL queries to validate data in a relational database (e.g., SELECT statements, joins, filtering). - Comfort using browser developer tools (inspecting elements, viewing console logs and network requests) to help isolate issues. - Hands-on experience with JIRA (or a similar issue tracker such as Azure DevOps or Linear) for ticket creation, tracking, and workflow management. - Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working alongside a development team in sprint cycles. - Comfort working with shared documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, Google Docs, Notion) for test plans and knowledge sharing. - Working understanding of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rule fundamentals, particularly as they relate to handling Protected Health Information (PHI) in development and test environments. - Awareness of the importance of using sanitized or synthetic data, avoiding the storage of real PHI in unsecured locations (screenshots, tickets, shared docs), and following established policies for access and data handling. - Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English. Preferred Qualifications - Prior exposure to testing healthcare software (EHR/EMR, RCM, medical billing, practice management, or similar). - Basic familiarity with healthcare concepts such as patient encounters, claims, EOBs/ERAs, eligibility, or the general flow of the revenue cycle. - Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Insomnia. - Exposure to test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr, Xray). - Exposure to or interest in test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright); no prior automation experience required, but willingness to learn is a plus. - Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) responsibly to assist with tasks like generating test case ideas, drafting bug reports, or exploring application behavior — we view AI as a force multiplier for QA, not a replacement for sound testing judgment. - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Details - Must be willing to work US hours. This position requires flexibility in working hours, covering varying shifts from 7:00 AM Pacific Time to 5:30 PM Pacific Time, based on business needs. - This position will be a full time Independent Contractor role. - This position will be remote, but we are seeking someone based out of The Philippines. - Pay: $11.00-$14.00 USD/hr depending on experience.
AI Full Stack Software Developer
Skilled Wound CareWound surgeons that specialize in ensuring that nursing home patients heal and wounds thrive.
Role Description We are seeking a talented and motivated Full Stack Software Developer to join our engineering team building mission-critical healthcare technology. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain our suite of healthcare applications, including our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and our end-to-end Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) platform. - Design, develop, test, and maintain features across our EHR and RCM platforms using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, and Python. - Build software supporting the full healthcare lifecycle — from clinical documentation and note generation, through coding and charge capture, claim submission to commercial payers and Medicare/Medicaid, ERA/EOB processing, payment posting, denial management, bank reconciliation, and revenue reporting integrations with accounting platforms. - Build responsive, accessible front-end interfaces and robust back-end services that handle protected health information (PHI) securely and reliably. - Develop and maintain integrations with healthcare standards and third-party services (e.g., clearinghouses, payer systems, lab interfaces, banking/ERA feeds, and accounting software). - Design and implement AI-powered features within our products — such as clinical documentation assistance, ambient note generation, coding suggestions, denial prediction, automated claim scrubbing, or intelligent workflow automation — with appropriate guardrails for accuracy, privacy, and compliance. - Write efficient, well-structured SQL queries, stored procedures, and schema designs to support clinical and financial workflows. - Participate in the full software development lifecycle: requirements analysis, technical design, implementation, code review, QA, deployment, and post-release support. - Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and clinical/billing subject-matter experts to translate complex healthcare workflows into intuitive software. - Track work, document decisions, and manage tickets in JIRA; contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives in an Agile environment. - Effectively use AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) to accelerate development, refactor legacy code, generate tests, and improve overall engineering productivity. - Identify and remediate performance bottlenecks, technical debt, and security vulnerabilities in existing applications. - Help uphold and improve our HIPAA-aligned security and privacy practices across the codebase and SDLC. - Mentor junior developers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing as you grow on the team. Qualifications - 3–5 years of professional experience designing and developing production web applications. - 1–3 years of hands-on experience building or maintaining healthcare-related software, such as EHR/EMR systems, end-to-end RCM/medical billing platforms, practice management systems, or clinical workflow tools. - Demonstrated experience shipping features end-to-end in a team-based, Agile environment. - Strong proficiency in PHP for server-side application development. - Solid JavaScript skills, including modern ES6+ features and experience with at least one front-end framework or library. - Proficiency with HTML5 and CSS3, including responsive design and cross-browser compatibility. - Strong SQL skills with at least one major relational database (MySQL preferred; experience with MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL Server also acceptable), including query optimization and schema design. - Working proficiency with Python for scripting, automation, data processing, or back-end services. - Experience with Git-based version control workflows (branching, pull requests, code review). - Comfort working in Linux-based environments and with REST APIs (designing, consuming, and debugging). - Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, or comparable tools as part of a daily development workflow. - Practical experience implementing AI/LLM-powered features in production software. - Experience using JIRA (or equivalent tools such as Azure DevOps or Linear) for issue tracking, sprint management, and project visibility. - Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, code review practices, and CI/CD concepts. - Working knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rule requirements as they apply to software development. - Understanding of common healthcare data and workflow concepts. DevOps Engineer
Skilled Wound CareWound surgeons that specialize in ensuring that nursing home patients heal and wounds thrive.
Role Description Skilled Wound Care is seeking a hands-on DevOps Engineer to take ownership of the deployment, operation, and security of our healthcare software platforms — including our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and our end-to-end Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) and billing platform. In this role, you will be the primary owner of how our applications are built, shipped, run, monitored, and secured in production. This is the first dedicated DevOps role at our company, and it is being created to formalize and grow this function as we scale. You will own the full scope of our application infrastructure on a day-to-day basis, with our Lead Software Developers serving as backup support for production emergencies and after-hours coverage. This position is focused exclusively on our software product infrastructure — the servers, cloud resources, containers, pipelines, and tooling that support our applications. You will not be responsible for general corporate IT systems such as file shares, remote desktop servers, internal VPNs, or end-user device management. Because our platforms handle Protected Health Information (PHI), security and compliance are not afterthoughts — they are core to the role. You will work closely with our development team to ensure that everything we ship is reliable, performant, and compliant with HIPAA and our broader security program. On-Call: This role includes participation in a primary on-call rotation for production incidents affecting our healthcare platforms, with the Lead Software Developers serving as secondary/backup coverage. We aim to keep on-call burden reasonable through strong monitoring, automation, and clearly documented runbooks. Responsibilities - Own the deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of our application servers and cloud infrastructure across development, staging, and production environments. - Provision and manage AWS resources (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM, Route 53, ELB/ALB, CloudFront, ACM, etc.) to support our application stack; secondary GCP exposure is a plus. - Build, maintain, and harden Docker images and container deployments for our applications. - Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) to define and version-control cloud resources where practical, and progressively reduce manual configuration over time. - Maintain Linux servers — install, patch, harden, and tune them for performance, reliability, and security. - Coordinate with the development team to manage updates to application runtimes, frameworks, and system-level dependencies (e.g., PHP, Node.js, Python, Nginx/Apache, MySQL, OS packages). - Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI) for automated build, test, and deployment of our applications. - Implement safe, repeatable release processes including environment promotion, automated test gates, and reliable rollback procedures. - Provide tooling and documentation that helps developers ship faster while staying within secure, compliant guardrails. - Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability tooling (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus/Grafana) across our application stack. - Set up centralized logging and audit trails appropriate for a HIPAA-regulated environment. - Participate in a primary on-call rotation for production incidents, with the Lead Software Developers providing secondary/backup coverage. - Investigate and resolve production issues, communicate clearly with stakeholders during incidents, and run post-mortems with concrete follow-up actions. - Track uptime and reliability targets; proactively identify reliability and capacity risks before they become outages. - Maintain and improve the security posture of our application infrastructure: AWS security groups and network ACLs, IAM/role-based access, encryption in transit and at rest, secrets management (e.g., AWS Secrets Manager, Parameter Store, or HashiCorp Vault), and audit logging. - Implement and maintain controls aligned with HIPAA Security Rule requirements, including access controls, audit trails, integrity controls, transmission security, and backup/disaster recovery. - Run vulnerability scanning and dependency/container image scanning; coordinate timely remediation of security findings with the development team. - Maintain configurations and documentation needed to support audits and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, and SOC 2 / HITRUST as we mature). - Manage backups, retention policies, encryption keys, and disaster recovery procedures — including periodic restore testing. Qualifications - 3–5 years of professional experience in a DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or Systems Engineering role, including hands-on responsibility for production environments. - Demonstrated experience supporting the full deployment lifecycle of web-based applications — from build through release, monitoring, and incident response. - Comfortable being the primary day-to-day owner of application infrastructure in a small team, with senior engineers available as backup. - Strong Linux administration skills — comfortable on the command line, with services like systemd, networking, file systems, package management, and shell scripting. - Solid hands-on experience with AWS, including core services such as EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, Route 53, and ELB/ALB; familiarity with GCP is a plus, as we use it as a secondary cloud. - Practical experience with Docker — building images, optimizing layers, managing registries, and running containers in production. - Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI. - Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform; willingness and ability to expand IaC coverage over time even where current state is partially manual is welcome. - Proficiency with at least one scripting/automation language (Bash, Python, or similar). - Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: DNS, TLS/SSL, HTTP(S), load balancing, reverse proxies (Nginx/Apache), VPCs, subnets, and firewall/security group rules. - Working experience administering relational databases in production (MySQL preferred; PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or MS SQL Server also acceptable), including backups, basic replication, and routine performance considerations. - Experience with monitoring/alerting and centralized logging tools. - Working understanding of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rule requirements as they apply to application infrastructure: access controls, audit logging, encryption requirements, transmission security, and breach notification considerations. - Familiarity with secure-by-default infrastructure practices: least-privilege IAM, secrets management, network segmentation, encryption in transit and at rest, and patch management. - Awareness of common web application and infrastructure security risks (e.g., OWASP Top 10 at a conceptual level, common cloud misconfigurations) and how to mitigate them at the infrastructure layer. - Experience working in an Agile environment using JIRA (or equivalent) for ticket tracking and project visibility. - Comfort with Git-based workflows (branching, pull requests, code review). - Ability to write clear technical documentation, runbooks, and post-mortems. Preferred Qualifications - Prior experience supporting healthcare software platforms (EHR/EMR, RCM, medical billing, practice management, or similar) is a significant plus. - Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards and integrations (HL7, FHIR, X12 EDI, clearinghouse connectivity) from an infrastructure perspective. - Hands-on experience supporting compliance audits for HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, or similar frameworks. - Experience with HashiCorp tooling (Vault, Consul) or equivalent secrets-management solutions beyond AWS-native options. - Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or SaltStack) for non-containerized workloads. - Experience tuning and operating PHP application stacks (PHP-FPM, OPcache, Composer, etc.) and/or Node.js and Python application servers. - AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), SysOps Administrator, or DevOps Engineer Professional. GCP certifications such as Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer are also a plus. - Security-focused certifications such as CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, or HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP). - Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) responsibly to accelerate scripting, IaC authoring, troubleshooting, and documentation — we view AI as a force multiplier, not a replacement for sound engineering judgment. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Benefits - This position will be a full time remote position. - Health, Dental, Vision Insurance. - Generous 401k plan. - Paid time off and holidays. - Life Insurance. - Education stipend.
