Engagement Manager
ScrunchScrunch AI is the leading platform for helping brands gain visibility in AI search results. As discovery shifts from traditional SEO to large language models and AI agents, Scrunch provides marketers with the platform to understand how their brand is being interpreted — and the necessary technology infrastructure to shape it.
About ScrunchScrunch, a venture-backed startup, is on a mission to bring brands to an AI-first future—where people increasingly rely on LLMs to discover, understand, and act on information that matters to them. As AI search and conversational agents replace traditional web search and browsing, Scrunch helps marketing teams rethink how their products and services are discovered and surfaced on AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and more—working with AI platforms, not against them. This shift represents the biggest change to marketing since the dawn of the internet. With $26M in backing from Mayfield Fund, Decibel, Homebrew, GTM Capital, and leading Silicon Valley founders and operators, Scrunch has scaled rapidly since commercial launch. Today, more than 500 paying brands—including Fortune 500 companies like Lenovo, category-defining brands like Skims, and breakout startups like Clerk—use the platform. About The RoleThis role sits at the center of how Scrunch turns customers into long-term partners. The Engagement Manager will lead onboarding, pilots, and overall activation coordination for enterprise accounts—driving execution, presenting to senior leadership, and building the engagement infrastructure that lets this function scale. This is the first hire in this role, which means you won’t inherit a playbook—you’ll create it. We need someone who can deliver in a Fortune 500 boardroom today, help design the processes the team runs on tomorrow, and bring the drive and judgment to get both right from day one. Location Requirement: - Applicants must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Utah - We are unable to hire outside of these states at this time. - If you are based in New York, this role will be considered Hybrid, 3x/week in-office with flexibility. What you’ll do - Own the full engagement lifecycle—from pilot scoping through POC delivery, onboarding, platform activation, and executive business review. You drive engagements to clear outcomes: expansion, renewal, or a candid conversation about fit. - Present to C-suite and senior marketing leadership at enterprise brands. Translate AI search visibility data into business outcomes, field tough questions about methodology, and hold your own when the room pushes back. Kickoffs, mid-pilot check-ins, QBRs, and board-ready ROI readouts are all in your wheelhouse. - Drive onboarding and activation. A signed deal means nothing if the customer never gets to value. You’ll make sure the right stakeholders are trained, the platform is configured for their use case, and the team is actively using Scrunch. You’ll spot stalled activations and risk early and intervene before they become problems. - Build repeatable engagement frameworks, onboarding playbooks, milestone templates, and escalation paths. This function doesn’t have a playbook yet—you’re writing it. - Bridge pre-sales and post-sales. Work closely with Solutions Engineering, Account Executives, Customer Success, and Product. Feed insights from live engagements back into how we sell, build, and position the product. - Create supporting content when it counts—kickoff decks, executive summaries, QBR frameworks—but the emphasis is on execution, not production. What you’ll bring - Have 4+ years in engagement management, professional services, solutions consulting, or customer onboarding at a SaaS or technology company. - Have run onboarding, pilots, POCs, or proof-of-value engagements end to end—you know how to scope them, staff them, and land them. - Have owned customer onboarding and driven platform activation and adoption within enterprise accounts. - Are comfortable presenting to CMOs, VPs, and C-suite stakeholders—and can hold the room. - Run tight engagements with clear milestones, owners, and escalation paths. A PMP isn’t required, but you bring strong project management instincts. - Think in systems, default to process, and instinctively design things that scale. - Are technically comfortable — you don't need to write code, but you understand how SaaS platforms are configured, how data flows, and how to have a credible conversation with a technical counterpart. - Are comfortable working in modern SaaS platforms, CRMs, and project tools — and can pick up new technical concepts quickly enough to go deep in a room full of marketers and engineers alike. - Have worked at a startup or in an environment where you had to define your own role and toolset. Nice to have - Have a background in management consulting, advisory, or professional services (McKinsey, Bain, Deloitte Digital, Accenture, or similar). - Know the marketing technology landscape—SEO, content strategy, digital analytics, or martech platforms. - Have experience with AI, LLMs, or the emerging AI search/GEO space. - Have hands-on experience with AI tools, LLMs, and/or the emerging AI search/GEO space — and are genuinely curious about how these systems work under the hood, not just what they produce. What success looks like - Enterprise pilots and POCs consistently convert to paid engagements, driven by clear value realization. - Customers are efficiently guided through key value steps and see value within 30 days of onboarding. - Repeatable engagement frameworks exist and are used across the team—not just in your head. - Executive stakeholders view Scrunch as a strategic partner, not a vendor. - Feedback from live engagements directly improves how we sell, build, and support the product. You’ll thrive here if you pick up a 40-page enterprise MSA and already know, before you're halfway through, which three clauses are going to be the fight. This role isn't for someone who leads with 'here's why we can't'. We need someone who leads with 'here's how we do it safely”. Let's be real-- as a Series A company, you'll rarely have the leverage in a negotiation. The Fortune 500 customers we're closing know it, and their legal teams definitely know it. You'll need to be comfortable with that. What you'll have instead is speed, flexibility, and the ability to actually pick up the phone. You've sat across the table from procurement and legal teams who have 10x your resources before and found a way to get the deal done anyway. You'll also be the only lawyer here for a while. Some days that means closing a $500K enterprise deal; others it means updating our privacy policy or settling a heated internal debate about whether we need an NDA for a coffee meeting. If that variety energizes rather than exhausts you, we should talk. Location Requirement: - Applicants must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Missouri, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Utah - We are unable to hire outside of these states at this time. - If you are based in New York, this role will be considered Hybrid, 3x/week in-office with flexibility. What You’ll DoLegal Strategy & Leadership - Lead and grow the company’s legal function, providing strategic guidance to the executive team on legal risks, opportunities, and business impact. - Serve as a thought partner across teams (Product, GTM, Finance, People) to anticipate issues and recommend creative, business-driven solutions. Commercial Contracts & Operations - Own commercial contracting — including SaaS agreements, reseller/channel contracts, strategic partnerships, NDAs, DPAs, and vendor agreements. - Build and maintain contract playbooks, templates, and workflows to improve speed and consistency. - Serve as the primary legal resource for revenue-generating activities and deal acceleration. Compliance & Data Privacy - Advise on regulatory compliance, data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), security matters, and product-related legal considerations. - Develop and maintain privacy policies, terms of service, and data processing agreements. Corporate Governance & Transactions - Manage corporate legal matters, including board minutes, cap table, equity grants (options/RSUs), and 409A valuations - Support the next fundraising round — including term sheet review, due diligence, and closing mechanics - Maintain corporate records and coordinate with outside counsel on M&A and strategic transactions. Employment & People Operations Support - Advise the People team on employment law, HR policies, workforce compliance, offer letters, and internal investigations. - Help shape policies that scale with company growth. Outside Counsel & Budget Management - Engage and manage external firms, setting scope, monitoring progress, and controlling legal spend. Who You Are - Experienced Attorney: 8–12+ years of legal experience, including a mix of law firm and in-house roles, preferably at high-growth technology or SaaS companies. - Commercial Contract Pro: Deep experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on a broad range of commercial agreements without sacrificing quality or judgment. - Business-Focused: You think beyond risk avoidance, evaluating legal issues through the lens of business impact and practicality. - Process Builder: Comfortable creating and refining legal playbooks, systems, and templates that scale with the organization. - Versatile & Independent: You thrive in a dynamic environment — juggling corporate, privacy, employment, and commercial matters in the same day and you don't need a large team to get things done. - Trusted Advisor: Strong communicator who earns trust across teams and can influence decisions at all levels. - Bar Admission: Juris Doctor (or equivalent), admitted to practice in the relevant jurisdiction or authorized (e.g., registered in-house) Nice-to-Have - Experience with technology companies at similar stages of growth - Prior leadership of legal functions or teams Scrunch is an equal opportunity employer. Senior Software Engineer, Core App (US)
ScrunchScrunch AI is the leading platform for helping brands gain visibility in AI search results.
