Role Description The Project Engineer will lead the end-to-end technical design, engineering, procurement, and construction of commercial and utility-scale solar projects. This role manages internal and external engineering resources to deliver high-quality, cost-effective systems that meet safety, performance, and reliability goals. Responsibilities - Technical Evaluation - Review site parameters, interconnection studies, and customer loads to determine optimal system sizing and configuration. - Conduct detailed shading analysis, structural assessments, and electrical reviews to inform equipment selection and layout. - Model proposed designs in PVsyst or equivalent to predict energy production and economic performance. - Select appropriate technologies for project needs, including modules, inverters, racking, and system balance. - Design Execution - Lead engineering team to produce permit/construction drawing sets meeting all applicable codes and client standards. - Direct internal and external engineering resources to produce full construction drawing sets and documentation packages meeting relevant codes, client specifications, utility standards, and other requirements. - Manage relationships with third-party engineering firms. - Specify electrical protection, monitoring, and control schemes to support grid stability and meet utility requirements. - Develop equipment specs, bills of materials, and detailed scopes of work for procurement and construction. - Coordinate technical reviews and secure permit approvals from authorities having jurisdiction. - Review detailed civil, structural, and electrical engineering design packages and ensure compliance with Reactivate’s technical specifications. - Stay apprised of technology advancements and trends across PV modules, inverters, racking, and energy storage OEMs. - Continuous Improvement - Support the progress of team initiatives, including safety, material/process template improvement, standardization, etc. - Construction Support - Provide technical supervision of contractors during system installations to ensure plan adherence. - Work closely with EPC contractors through procurement, construction, and commissioning. - Review shop drawings, inspect deliveries, and witness factory testing as needed. - Review punch list inspection, testing, and commissioning of completed systems before approval. - Compile as-built drawings, operations manuals, warranty docs, and other project closeout paperwork. - Participate in project construction by responding to contractor RFIs, participating in monthly construction meetings, and reviewing site QA/QC documents. - Conduct site visits to support site constructability evaluation and support construction progress. Qualifications - 3 - 5 years of commercial solar energy system design experience, preferably working with the design of new facilities. - Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, PE is preferred. - Knowledgeable of the NEC code. - NABCEP, PV Installation Professional Certification a plus. - Expertise in solar plant equipment, including PV modules, racking systems, inverters, and electrical balance of plant. - Proficiency with PVSyst, System Advisory Model (SAM) programs, AutoCAD, PVcase, ArcGIS, Helioscope, and Aurora Solar is a plus. - Experience reviewing civil, structural, or electrical engineering design packages. - Experience managing third-party due diligence studies and energy production estimates. - Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at a time. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with varied interests and backgrounds. - Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills. - Proficient with the Microsoft Windows Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. - Some travel required. Responsibilities ⚙️ - Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate the performance and viability of Reactivate’s renewable energy projects - Conduct comprehensive investment analysis to assess risks, returns and sensitivities for Reactivate’s project pipeline and prospective investment opportunities - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Development, EPC, Asset Management and Operations, etc. to collect modeling assumptions and validate project data - Prepare and present detailed financial reports, analyses and recommendations to senior leadership to inform strategic decisions on project investment and development priorities - Support deal negotiation and execution of capital markets transactions (project finance, tax equity, or even investment partnerships), including dataroom management, closing checklists, and other critical transaction support tasks Requirements 🎓 - Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field - 2+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or other investing roles in power, utilities, infrastructure or real assets required - Renewable energy experience and project finance (especially tax equity) transaction experience is preferred - Strong proficiency in cash flow modeling and valuation techniques - Proven track record of working with complex financial data and developing key insights for senior leadership teams - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and opportunities in financial scenarios - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience preparing and delivering presentations to senior management and board members - Highly organized and detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, start-up environment - Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (minimum Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) - Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future The annual base salary for this position is $100,000 – $120,000. • Lead our engineering team in the development and execution of distributed generation solar and storage projects including but not limited to commercial & industrial, small-scale utility, community solar and landfill • Conduct performance assessments to provide feedback, promote individual growth and ensure alignment with organization goals • Collaborate with the Vice President, EPC to strategically manage resource allocation • Oversee daily team workflows by facilitating capacity building and deliver targeted training initiatives to drive team efficiency • Analyze site parameters, interconnection studies and customer loads to determine optimal system sizing and configuration • Conduct shading analysis, structural assessments and electrical reviews to inform equipment selection and layout • Model proposed designs in PVsyst or similar tools to predict energy products and economic performance • Select appropriate technologies for projects, including modules, inverters, racking and system balance • Lead the engineering team in creating permit/construction drawing sets that meet codes and client standards • Direct internal and external resources to produce comprehensive construction documentation packages • Manage relationships with third-party engineering firms to ensure quality deliverables • Specify electrical protection, monitoring, and control schemes to meet utility and grid stability requirements • Develop equipment specifications, bills of materials, and detailed scopes of work for procurement and construction • Coordinate technical reviews and secure permit approvals from relevant authorities • Review detailed civil, structural, and electrical engineering design packages for compliance with technical specifications • Stay updated on advancements in PV modules, inverters, racking, and energy storage technologies • Provide technical supervision to contractors during system installations to ensure adherence to plans • Collaborate with EPC contractors through procurement, construction, and commissioning phases • Review shop drawings, inspect deliveries, and witness factory testing as needed • Oversee punch list inspections, testing, and commissioning of systems before final approval • Compile as-built drawings, operations manuals, warranty documentation, and other project closeout materials • Respond to contractor RFIs, participate in construction meetings, and review QA/QC documentation • Conduct site visits to evaluate constructability and support construction progress
