Minimum Qualifications - Master's degree in counseling or counseling psychology. Preferred Qualification - Two years of experience providing educational counseling and academic advising in a college setting. - Experience in a community college or open-access institution, including familiarity with transfer systems, articulation agreements, career and guided pathways, and student success initiatives such as retention efforts and coaching. - Experience with crisis intervention and referral. - Knowledge of academic advising practices, career counseling principles, personal counseling techniques, assessment methods, and student development theory. - Experience using technology to support academic advising and counseling functions, including web-based tools, student information systems, and related software. - Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with students representing a wide range of interests, abilities, and life circumstances. - Strong public speaking, writing, electronic communication, and interpersonal skills. How is Faculty Salary Determined? Per the MSCF contract, each new faculty member’s education and experience will determine how they are credentialed and where they are placed on the salary schedule.
