Role Description GiveDirectly has crossed $1B in cash delivered to people living in poverty, and we’re building the finance function to match that scale. The Senior Manager, Finance - DRC is a pivotal role in GiveDirectly's finance structure. This position will lead a finance pod responsible for end-to-end financial management for DRC and potentially additional countries or areas of operation. The Senior Manager will report to the Controller while maintaining strong collaborative relationships with Country Directors and implementing a centralized yet accountable finance model. Reports to: Controller Level: Senior Manager Location: DRC, Goma What you’ll do: - Financial Management & Reporting - Serve as the primary finance contact for DRC and potential additional assigned countries, providing financial oversight and support to the Country Director. - Lead budgeting, forecasting, Budget-to-Actual reviews, donor financial reporting, and invoicing. - Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. - Oversee country-level accounting activities, including transaction review, coding, reconciliations, and financial data integrity. - Provide hands-on support to country teams through regular financial reviews, spot checks, and field visits to strengthen financial management and operational planning. - Compliance, Controls & Risk Management - Strengthen internal controls, compliance, and fraud prevention in DRC and potential additional assigned countries. - Monitor financial and operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures, including spot checks of transactions, advances, allowances, and supporting documentation. - Ensure compliance with donor requirements, local regulations, tax obligations, and organizational policies. - Lead country audit preparation, external reporting requirements, and follow-up on audit findings. - Manage relationships with banks, auditors, regulators, and government stakeholders to support treasury operations, compliance, and organizational representation. - Team Leadership & Operational Excellence - Lead and develop a pod of finance staff, establishing clear accountability and performance expectations. - Drive process and system improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across finance operations. - Partner with country teams to build financial management capacity and provide day-to-day support on finance, procurement, and operational processes. - Collaborate with the broader finance team on systems improvements, automation, better use of AI, and process standardization. - Foster strong working relationships across country and global teams, serving as a bridge between local operations and central finance functions. About this role The U.S. Program Associate will support implementation for large-scale cash initiatives in the U.S. As a critical member of GiveDirectly’s U.S. programs team, you will support operations, internal coordination, and team processes. You will often be the project point person for community engagement and customer service. You will be expected to support Managers and Senior Managers across multiple projects, and as a result, you must be excited to work in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable managing multiple workstreams at one time. What you’ll do: This position will primarily support Rx Kids, a universal, unconditional cash allowance program targeted at expectant parents and infants. The program is running in over 40 communities in Michigan and is now expanding to the State of Ohio. This role is expected to work closely with our program partners, including Michigan State University, First Year Cleveland, and local community partners. The program will launch in Cleveland, but as it expands, you may be expected to support additional Rx Kids communities. Role Description The Safeguarding Associate ensures that GiveDirectly’s activities are planned and delivered in ways that prevent abuse and support appropriate and timely responses to safeguarding concerns. The role works closely with staff and communities to identify and reduce safeguarding risks, promote safe behaviours, and strengthen confidence in our reporting pathways. This position upholds high safeguarding standards, reinforces trust, and ensures that all aspects of work protect the dignity and rights of recipients. What you’ll do: - Conduct safeguarding risk assessments and review operational tools to identify safeguarding risks, informed by direct engagement with communities, recipients, and staff, in order to take early action to prevent abuse. - Receive, document, and support responses to safeguarding concerns in line with our case management protocol by using survivor centred practice and established escalation pathways. - Establish, develop, and maintain a network of safeguarding focal points across the country to strengthen localised and collaborative risk identification and promote safeguarding best practice. - Maintain and strengthen signposting and referral pathways by mapping and engaging trusted local service providers. - Contribute safeguarding expertise to planning, design, and delivery to ensure that GiveDirectly’s activities remain safe, inclusive, and respectful. - Deliver ongoing safeguarding training, onboarding, and sensitisation sessions for staff and partners, and support teams to apply best safeguarding practice consistently and promote safe behaviours. - Represent safeguarding needs in field operations and maintain trusted relationships with local leaders, partners, and community actors. - Monitor safeguarding trends and incidents, prepare self assessments and routine reports, and escalate and address gaps in safeguarding practices appropriately. • Lead geospatial analysis design: Work with the GiveDirectly research team to translate research hypotheses about market effects into testable geospatial proxies (e.g., agricultural intensification, road quality, population clustering, infrastructure development). • Source and evaluate imagery options: Identify, assess, and procure satellite imagery or telecom data from various sources for study areas; evaluate data quality, temporal resolution, and suitability for hypothesis testing. • Conduct exploratory analysis, and interpret findings: Execute spatial analysis on smaller samples of pilot data to detect changes in agricultural composition, cultivation intensity, infrastructure, and spatial patterns of economic activity. • Develop repeatable analysis scripts: Build reproducible, well-documented code (Python/R/GIS tools) for automated detection and quantification of landscape and infrastructure changes over time. • Document and communicate: Create clear technical documentation, methodology notes, and findings summaries suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• This position will be responsible for pitching GiveDirectly programs and research to key media and thought leaders, reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Media and Strategic Communications. • This person will be pitching traditional media and supporting GiveDirectly’s surrogate strategy — cultivating relationships with public intellectuals, newsletter writers, podcasters, and other content creators who can serve as credible, independent advocates for cash transfers to high-value audiences. • In addition, this person will help build the infrastructure that makes the team smarter and faster. This includes maintaining and improving internal systems and being the in-team expert on AI-powered tools and automation.

• Implement approaches for systematically assessing needs in crisis-affected populations. • Incorporate traditional humanitarian data sources (e.g., needs assessments, poverty statistics, vulnerability indices, displacement monitoring, etc.) and novel data sources (e.g., geospatial imagery, call detail records, social media, crowd-sourcing, etc.) into GD’s targeting systems. • Provide clear targeting analysis with relevant subpopulations for emergency cash programs as a service to other teams, visualizing data on maps and dashboards. • Based on determined targeting criteria, general recipient lists of individuals to be enrolled in GD EC programs. • Provide targeting analysis services for both GD’s preparedness and response states – scoping and prioritizing relevant subpopulations based on pre-existing risks and delivering on-demand analysis during response deployments (remote). • Monitor global risks and crises, providing analysis for GD teams to make activation decisions. • Communicate with humanitarian agencies, data providers, and crisis monitoring organizations to integrate reliable event and assessment data into GD’s workflow. • Participate in product development from problem discovery and user requirements gathering to launch and iteration, working with engineering, data science, and operations. • Conduct agile iterative experiments and pilots to validate assumptions about crisis detection and targeting, using results to refine strategy. • Define and track success metrics for targeting tools, ensuring outputs are timely, relevant, and usable in the field. • Maintain internal data source documentation, including a qualitative assessment of accuracy, reliability, and limitations of sources and datasets. • Continuously evaluate and improve targeting approaches for speed, accuracy, and inclusivity, while maintaining humanitarian principles. • Stay abreast of emerging technology and new data sources to ensure GD is leveraging cutting-edge approaches to targeting. • Document learning to scale best practices across different contexts.
