Role Description Japan is a relationship-driven market where local presence and regional coverage are critical to building a strong sales pipeline. Today, Flexport's commercial coverage outside Tokyo is limited, leaving significant new business opportunities in the Kansai region untapped. As we insource our Japan operations and scale our in-country team, we are hiring Account Executives based in Osaka to lead Flexport's commercial expansion across Kansai. In this role, you will own new business development across Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, and the broader Kansai region — building Flexport's pipeline, winning new logos, and acting as the trusted local face of Flexport for clients in the region. You will also play a hybrid AM/AE role for newly acquired FOB accounts in Kansai, supporting both acquisition and early-stage account growth. This is a high-autonomy role with a clear path to future sales leadership in Japan. - Develop new business opportunities across the Kansai region (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, and surrounding areas) and expand Flexport's regional coverage in Japan. - Build and manage a strong pipeline of small to mid-sized opportunities, driving customer acquisition through outbound prospecting, referrals, and partner networks. - Manage day-to-day communication with customers and prospects, serving as their primary local Flexport point of contact. - Convert opportunities into recurring and scalable business across Ocean (FCL/LCL) and Air. - Support senior sales colleagues on strategic account development and execution where Kansai-based decision-making or operations are involved. - Build long-term customer relationships and strengthen Flexport's local market presence in Kansai through industry events, customer visits, and regional networks. - Support FOB accounts for newly acquired customers in the Kansai region in a hybrid AM/AE capacity, ensuring smooth onboarding and early-stage account stability. - Demonstrate strong potential to grow into a future sales leader in Japan, with progressive ownership over more strategic accounts and team contribution. - Collaborate closely with the Tokyo-based commercial leadership, the Japan General Manager, and the newly insourced Tokyo Ocean and Air operations teams. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or equivalent. - 5+ years of experience in B2B sales, business development, or account management — ideally in freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain, or 3PL services. - Demonstrated track record of winning new business in Japan, ideally with key accounts in the Kansai region (proven experience with brands such as ASICS, Epson, Keyence, or similar is a strong plus). - Established familiarity with Kansai-based shippers across manufacturing, consumer goods, electronics, automotive, chemicals, or industrial sectors. - Native or business-level Japanese (verbal and written) and conversational to professional English. - Working knowledge of Ocean (FCL/LCL) and Air freight, with the ability to articulate clear value to logistics and procurement decision-makers. - Self-starter mindset — able to operate effectively as a remote member of the Japan team while collaborating closely with Tokyo and APAC counterparts. - Strong communication, negotiation, and customer relationship skills. - High integrity, customer-first orientation, and alignment with Flexport's values. Requirements - Experience selling technology-enabled or digital freight platforms. - Familiarity with Japan–China, Japan–Southeast Asia, Japan–US, and Japan–EU trade flows. - Prior experience as part of a country launch, new office build-out, or insourcing initiative. Commitment to Equal Opportunity At Flexport, our ability to fulfill our mission of making global commerce easy and accessible relies on having a diverse, dedicated and engaged workforce. Title: Capital Credit Senior Associate, Underwriting and Portfolio Management Location: Dallas, Texas, United States Job Description: About Flexport: At Flexport, we believe global trade can move the human race forward. That’s why it’s our mission to make global commerce so easy there will be more of it. We’re shaping the future of a $10T industry with solutions powered by innovative technology and exceptional people. Today, companies of all sizes—from emerging brands to Fortune 500s—use Flexport technology to move more than $19B of merchandise across 112 countries a year. The recent global supply chain crisis has put Flexport center stage as we continue to play a pivotal role in how goods move around the world. We are proud to have the support of the best investors in the game who believe in our mission, solutions and people. Ready to tackle global challenges that impact business, society, and the environment? Come join us. The Opportunity: As a Capital Credit Senior Associate, Underwriting and Portfolio Management, you will play a pivotal role in Flexport Capital’s portfolio management strategy. This is a hybrid role sitting at the intersection of hands-on credit stewardship and data-driven innovation. You won't just analyze high-level trends; you will actively manage the monthly financial review process, lead diligence on flagged accounts, and own the operational compliance stack. You will be the first line of defense in monitoring portfolio health while simultaneously building the tools and dashboards that make that monitoring scalable. You Will: - Lead Portfolio Reviews & Diligence: Manage the monthly financial review process for the entire customer base. You will direct Associate support for data gathering, but you will be responsible for the analysis, knowing exactly what red flags to look for in financial statements. - Conduct Active Risk Management: Identify deteriorating credits or anomalies and immediately trigger deeper reviews. You will prepare for and lead diligence calls with borrowers to investigate issues and determine necessary actions. - Prepare Credit Modifications: Evaluate requests from Business Development for line increases, term adjustments, or other modifications. You will be responsible for writing the loan modification templates/memos and providing the credit diligence and justification for your recommendations. - Own Compliance & Operations: oversee and improve our KYB/KYC, UCC lien filing, and lien management processes. You will ensure strict compliance and proactively suggest new vendors, products, or process improvements to streamline operations. - Build & Maintain Analytics: Design portfolio monitoring dashboards that aggregate credit, collateral, and operational data. You will continue to use tools (SQL, Python, Looker) to automate data ingestion and anomaly detection. - Analyze Trends: Monitor borrower and portfolio trends—including CRR migration, LGD, DSO, and exposure concentration—to inform repricing or mitigation strategies. - Drive Process Improvement: Continuously improve internal reporting and data quality, ensuring our tools serve as a reliable "single pane of glass" for portfolio risk visibility. You will use the available low-code and analytical tools (using SQL, Python, Airtable, Looker, or Power Automate) to automate data ingestion, anomaly detection, and risk flag generation. You Should Have: - 3–7 years of experience in commercial lending, credit risk, or portfolio management (Asset-Based Lending or Working Capital experience is highly preferred). - Hands-on Credit Experience: You have experience manually reviewing financial statements, identifying risk factors, and writing credit memos or loan modification justifications. You are comfortable getting on the phone with a CFO to ask hard questions. - Operational Knowledge: Familiarity with the mechanics of lending operations, including KYB/KYC regulations, UCC lien perfection, and compliance management. - Technical Proficiency: Proven experience leveraging data analytics tools (SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Looker) to analyze portfolios. - Low-Code/Automation Skills: Working knowledge of tools like Power Automate, Airtable, or Zapier to build scalable processes is a strong plus. - Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate credit rationale to the Risk Committee and partner effectively with BD and Ops. - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field (MBA or CFA is a plus). Why Flexport: You’ll be joining Flexport Capital, a high-velocity fintech unit operating with the agility of a startup and the data advantage of a global logistics leader. This is a hands-on environment for builders, not just observers. You won’t just monitor algorithms, you’ll be in the trenches of deal structuring, operational compliance, and borrower diligence, actively shaping how we lend and recover. You will play a direct role in fusing traditional credit discipline with next-gen analytics, driving our mission to scale asset-based lending while keeping losses under 1.5%. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and own the outcome, you belong here. Commitment to Equal Opportunity At Flexport, our ability to fulfill our mission of making global commerce easy and accessible relies on having a diverse, dedicated and engaged workforce. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical and mental disability, health status, marital and family status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
