The Role We are seeking a Product Architect to join Lumen’s Managed & Professional Services organization. This role is responsible for architecting and evolving managed network, managed security, and service intelligence solutions that align with Lumen’s strategic vision and enterprise architecture standards. The Senior Lead Product Architect operates at the intersection of product strategy and technical execution—providing architectural leadership, defining solution designs, and ensuring consistency with Lumen’s Corporate North Star, IT, and Service Assurance architectures. This role partners closely with Product Management, Engineering, Security, and Operations teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high‑performance solutions. The Main Responsibilities Architecture & Solution Design Define and own high‑level software and system architectures for managed network, managed security, and service intelligence solutions. Produce architectural designs, reference architectures, and technical specifications that guide development and integration. Technical Leadership & Governance Provide technical leadership across delivery teams, establishing architectural standards, best practices, and design patterns. Conduct architectural reviews and ensure solutions meet performance, security, scalability, and reliability requirements. Product & Stakeholder Collaboration Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Security, Operations, and other stakeholders to translate product requirements into technically sound and scalable solutions. Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the product lifecycle. System Integration & Interoperability Oversee the integration of multiple platforms, services, and software components to ensure seamless end‑to‑end functionality. Define integration patterns, interfaces, and interaction models across complex, distributed systems. Quality, Security & Compliance Assurance Ensure architectural designs adhere to enterprise security, compliance, and operational standards. Identify and mitigate technical risks early through design reviews and continuous evaluation. Architecture Alignment & Strategy Ensure all solutions align with Lumen’s Corporate North Star and are consistent with IT, Network, and Service Assurance architectural strategies. Drive architectural coherence across portfolios and initiatives. Innovation & Emerging Technology Adoption Stay current with emerging technologies, architectural trends, and industry best practices. Evaluate and incorporate new capabilities where appropriate to improve scalability, automation, observability, and customer value. Mentorship & Enablement Mentor architects and senior engineers, fostering strong architectural discipline, documentation standards, and technical decision‑making across teams. What We Look For in a Candidate 8+ years of experience in software architecture, systems engineering, or technical solution design, preferably within managed services, networking, security, or large‑scale enterprise platforms. Architectural Expertise Strong experience designing distributed systems, service‑oriented and cloud‑based architectures, and complex system integrations. Technical Leadership Proven ability to lead architectural decisions, influence cross‑functional teams, and establish enterprise‑level standards. Strategic Thinking Ability to align technical architecture with product strategy and long‑term business objectives. Collaboration & Communication Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex architectural concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Quality & Security Focus Strong understanding of performance, scalability, resilience, and security principles in enterprise environments. Compensation This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors. Location Based Pay Ranges: $149,084 - $198,779 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY. $156,539 - $208,718 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI. $163,993 - $218,657 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
