Role Description WSB is seeking an experienced distribution engineering leader to build, lead, and grow WSB's electric distribution line engineering practice. This role will serve as the technical lead and people leader for overhead and underground distribution work, establishing standards, developing staff, supporting utility client growth, and scaling an emerging team into a sustainable practice. What you will do: - Build and scale the Distribution Engineering team, including recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, training, and workforce planning. - Serve as WSB's subject matter expert for overhead and underground electric distribution design, including: - Line extensions - Feeder upgrades - Reconductoring - Storm hardening - Undergrounding - Reliability improvements - Joint-use/make-ready - DER interconnections - EV infrastructure - Establish scalable engineering standards, design templates, QA/QC procedures, field-collection requirements, construction package standards, and utility-specific delivery processes. - Lead technical reviews, constructability reviews, field issue resolution, and client-standard compliance, including NESC and applicable utility requirements. - Manage project scope, schedule, staffing, deliverables, and client expectations across multiple distribution engineering assignments. - Support strategic account growth by leading technical portions of proposals, scopes, estimates, interviews, and pursuit strategy for utility, cooperative, municipal, and contractor clients. - Attend client meetings and provide updates on project scope, progress, and technical issues. - Perform other duties as assigned. People Leadership: - Oversees daily operations including managing team assignments, resolving operational issues, and ensuring team goals and plans are met and implemented. - Maintains adherence to quality standards and administrative policies (e.g., time sheets, expense reports). - Leads people through coaching and development, effective performance management, and hiring. Client Management: - Supports client relationships through project delivery, responsive communication, and follow-through on commitments. - Demonstrates a client-service mindset by addressing needs, resolving issues, and maintaining client satisfaction. - Identifies and shares potential opportunities or leads with leadership and follows company standards for documenting pursuits and updates. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related engineering discipline; relevant utility distribution experience may be considered with other engineering degrees.
