In just 18 months since our retail debut, Seed has transitioned from a direct-to-consumer pioneer into a top-ranking brand on the national stage. As Director of Retail Sales, you will lead this dual mandate—driving the continued hyper-growth of our established national accounts while building the foundational launch plans required to successfully enter new, high-impact channels. We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader who is energized by the 'build.' You are someone who can navigate the complexities of diverse retail ecosystems and translate Seed’s scientific rigor into a premium, category-defining shelf-side experience. Reporting to the VP of Retail Sales, you will serve as a key strategic partner in shaping our national retail roadmap. You will be responsible for delivering profitable growth within your accounts and will serve as the primary driver of their long-term health and execution. What You’ll Do: - Strategic Partnership Leadership Lead sales efforts with current partners (Target, Sprouts, Erewhon), while pioneering new launches across new channels. Adept at building strong partnerships and multi-year growth plans. - Omni-Channel Excellence Navigate retailer’s complex retail ecosystem to optimize product placement, pricing strategies, promotional calendars, and merchandising execution across all touchpoints. - Performance Optimization Monitor and analyze business performance against forecasts, identifying growth opportunities and implementing corrective actions to maximize ROI on trade investments - Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with internal stakeholders including Product and Brand Marketing, Supply Chain, Demand Planning, Product Development, Finance and Channel Owners to ensure seamless execution of retail strategies and maintain optimal in-stock - Financial Stewardship Develop accurate sales forecasts, manage account-level P&L statements, and ensure trade spending remains within budgetary constraints. - Relationship Management Build deep, strategic relationships with retailer’s buying teams, merchandising specialists, category managers, and digital commerce leaders as well as key brokers, display development and execution compliance partners to secure optimal shelf positioning and promotional support - Market Intelligence Conduct comprehensive competitive analysis, monitor category trends, and translate market insights into actionable strategies that position Seed as the premium probiotics authority within the broader wellness ecosystem Who You Are: - Retail Master: You have 7+ years of CPG sales and account management experience. - Target Specialist with Other Channel Experience: You possess at least 3 years of direct experience leading the Target business, with additional channel experience in Drug, Natural, and/or Specialty Beauty. - Commercial Strategist: You have a proven history of architecting multi-channel expansions and negotiating terms that protect long-term margins. - Consumer Goods Expertise Extensive experience in high growth brands within health, wellness, or premium CPG categories - Analytical Excellence You have advanced proficiency in retail analytics (SPINS), demand planning, and financial modeling to translate complex data into strategic insights. - Retail Negotiation Experience Deep understanding of and experience in strategies and levers for maximizing partnership value, especially when negotiating new partnerships. - Cross-Functional Collaboration Demonstrated success working with merchandising, marketing, supply chain, and finance teams to deliver integrated business solutions - Communication Excellence Superior presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building capabilities with demonstrated ability to influence at all organizational levels - Educational Foundation Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred - Technical Proficiency Expert-level skills in Microsoft Office Suite supporting ad hoc reporting, SPINS analytics, and retail analytics platforms - Mission Alignment Passionate about microbiome science and its potential for positive impact on human and planetary health, with genuine enthusiasm for educating consumers about the precision and efficacy that defines Seed's approach Compensation: The annual pay range for this full-time position is $170-210K + equity + benefits across all US locations (this position is 100% remote-US). Our pay ranges are guided by discipline, level and experience required. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including: your specific location, desired skills/ technical competency, relevant experience and advanced education/ training.
