Job Description
Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack
Hotel Engine
• Re-architect account hierarchy — migrating from single-user-per-business assumptions to a scalable model that supports complex parent-child business relationships • Build out dynamic travel policies that scale across lodging, flights, and cars for enterprise customers • Evaluate what stays in the monolith vs. moves to microservices — and make the call • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders on negotiations and tough product calls • Partner with frontend engineers on the team to ship features end-to-end • Contribute to a future policies service where compiled languages (Go / Rust) are on the table
Job Requirements
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals in Node / TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with a compiled language (Go or Rust)
- Solid relational database experience (Postgres, MySQL) and distributed systems knowledge
- AWS and serverless architecture experience (Lambda)
- Conviction with rationale — you make decisions with incomplete information, own them, and move forward
- Highly cross-functional — you'll interface directly with business partners on negotiations and product decisions
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and negotiating outcomes across engineering and business
- Insist on high standards — for your code, your systems, and your team
- Nice to Have: Ruby on Rails experience (some of our services are on Rails), React or frontend exposure, Prior experience building multi-tenant enterprise systems, permissions frameworks, or policy engines.
Benefits
- Competitive base pay tied to role and experience, with opportunities for bonuses, commissions, and equity.
- Check out our full list at engine.com/culture.
- Different roles have different needs in terms of the environments that drive success which is why we have a hybrid-hub model. Whether you are in one of our amazing offices or fully remote, we’ll make sure you have what you need to succeed.
