Job Description
AI Engineer, Agentic AI Engineer
Vercel
• As an AI Engineer (m/f/d) you don’t just write notebooks and prompts — you build production-grade GenAI systems: agents, RAG pipelines, and LLM-driven workflows. • You work in cross-functional, agile teams on client projects and engage with the entire modern GenAI stack. • Together with your team you advise clients on use-case identification, architectural decisions, effort estimation, and the selection of appropriate delivery models. • You analyze client requirements, design and implement agent-based solutions and RAG pipelines over enterprise data, and ensure clear, high-quality documentation. • You leverage modern, automated approaches and AI-native developer workflows to optimize code and deliver innovative solutions.
Job Requirements
- Good to native German language skills are MANDATORY, as we work closely with clients in the DACH region.
- You hold an M.Sc. (or equivalent) in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related natural/engineering discipline.
- A completed degree with solid foundations in statistics, machine learning, and software engineering is required for this role.
- If you’ve been generating code with AI assistants for a few months but don’t understand the fundamentals behind it (statistics, ML theory, data structures, software architecture), this role is not the right fit.
- We cannot consider applications without a relevant degree and verifiable, several years of data science/ML practice.
- You are a team player, value open communication, enjoy learning from others, and actively share your knowledge.
Benefits
- Remote or in-office — you decide how and where you work, provided this is coordinated with your project and team.
- Default is remote; on-site days at the client as needed (typically every two weeks).
- OffProject Time — while most of your time is spent on client projects, approximately 20% of your working time is reserved for training, research, open-source contributions, conference talks, community engagement, or internal AI initiatives.
- You’ll work across a variety of projects and clients in finance, insurance, the public sector, and industry, operating in a self-organized and responsible manner.
- You choose your full hardware setup including the OS — private use is permitted.
- Plus a dedicated AI tooling budget.
