In this role, you will design, build, and scale the test infrastructure that developers, integration engineers, and QA teams rely on to validate software across vehicles, mobile, and cloud. This is a hands-on IC lead role where you’ll define infrastructure, guide adoption of best practices, streamline developer tools, and help shape the future of how Ford delivers reliable, secure, and high-quality EV software. Responsibilities What you'll do... • Architect, develop, and maintain scalable test infrastructure supporting developers, integration, and QA for the next-gen EV platform. • Build and optimize frameworks for automation, validation, and continuous integration across embedded, Android, and cloud environments. • Partner with developers and QA to improve test coverage, speed, and reliability across mobile apps, in-vehicle systems, and backend services. • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar) with support for containerized and cloud-based execution. • Develop and extend tooling for pytest (Python), Appium, and service-level test frameworks. • Scale infrastructure in Kubernetes and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to support distributed and parallel test execution. • Improve test observability with dashboards, reporting, and alerting for failures and system health. • Act as a technical mentor for engineers across QA, integration, and development teams. • Build towards an automation-first culture and continuous improvement in software quality. Qualifications You'll have... Bachelor's or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. • 7+ years experience in software development, test automation, or infrastructure engineering. • Strong proficiency in Python and frameworks such as pytest. • Proven ability to architect scalable test systems that serve multiple teams. • Hands-on experience with Appium (or similar UI automation frameworks for Android/iOS). • Deep knowledge of Linux systems, shell scripting, and system-level debugging. • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure acceptable). • Strong background in CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and test orchestration. • Experience working with Android systems and SDKs. • Excellent collaboration and communication skills; able to work cross-functionally with developers, QA, and integration engineers. • Looking for a Staff Software Engineer in Test to raise the quality bar across our mobile app and backend domain • Design and own the test strategy across mobile teams for native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin) apps • Set strategy for device and OS-version fragmentation coverage and drive flakiness control at scale, running suites on BrowserStack with GitLab CI • Keep the backend/API/contract layer strong and connect it to the mobile client layer • Own quality gates inside app release and store-deployment pipelines • Drive resolution of quality issues that cross team boundaries within the domain • Pair on testability, shift quality ownership left into the dev workflow • Mentor Senior Software Engineers in Test, providing technical guidance across the domain • Run knowledge-sharing across QA and Dev: tech talks, workshops, reusable documentation, pair sessions; co-lead the OneTech/QA community • Define quality metrics and gates and use them to frame quality risk in business terms • Define the AI adoption approach for quality engineering in the domain - which tools, which workflows • Design AI-assisted testing workflows and set governance and data-security standards across teams

• Design, develop, and maintain robust test automation frameworks using Python • Build and execute automated test suites using Selenium WebDriver for web applications • Implement and maintain test frameworks following best practices such as Page Object Model (POM) using PyTest and/or unitTest • Develop and execute API automation tests to validate backend services and integrations • Integrate automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or Azure Pipelines • Manage test execution, defects, and reporting within Azure DevOps (ADO) • Create, maintain, and track test cases using Xray for test management • Collaborate closely with Developers, Product Managers, and DevOps teams to build quality into every stage of the SDLC • Perform code reviews for automation scripts and ensure maintainability and scalability of test assets • Analyze test results, identify root causes, and proactively highlight quality risks • Continuously improve automation coverage, execution speed, and reliability

• Complete various types of software testing for system updates including functional, performance, API, and DB verification testing • Design, execute, and maintain manual and automated regression test cases • Identify, document, track, and advocate for defect resolution using bug tracking systems • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and system architecture • Develop and maintain comprehensive test documentation including test plans, test cases, and testing reports • Ensure test coverage and adherence to project requirements • Mentor junior team members and contribute to best practices development
