Job Description

Technical Solutions Architect

Hermanson Company

Role Description The Technical Solutions Architect is a senior, hands-on software engineering role within the company’s IT team, building and extending business application solutions across Microsoft Dynamics 365, the Power Platform, and integrated custom development. This position reports to the CIO, in the IT Department. This role works in close partnership with, and under the technical direction of, the company’s existing Sr. Solutions Architect. It contributes senior-level design, development, and integration work across the application portfolio, helps mature delivery and engineering practices, and takes on broader responsibility over time as the team’s roadmap and capacity grow. Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and the Power Platform anchor the work today, while its scope is expected to extend across the broader Microsoft cloud and custom development stack as needs evolve. Responsibilities - Solution Architecture & Design - Architect end-to-end solutions across the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform estate and the systems integrated with it. - Make well-reasoned design decisions, weighing configuration, extension, and custom development to select the right approach for each requirement. - Apply and help refine technical standards for maintainability, performance, security, and supportability. - Contribute to architectural patterns and roadmaps aligned to business objectives. - Application Development & Customization - Support, configure, and extend the portfolio of production model-driven and canvas applications. - Develop server-side plugins, custom workflow activities, web resources, and client-side scripting. - Build custom components, services, and automation where platform configuration alone is insufficient. - Write readable, maintainable, well-documented code that the team can confidently extend. - Integration & Data Flow - Design and maintain integrations across Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Azure services, and external line-of-business systems. - Build and maintain integration patterns, including Dual-write, REST and Web APIs, and event-driven automation. - Contribute to integration design decisions as system boundaries continue to evolve. - Ensure data integrity and process fidelity across connected systems. - Platform Migration & Modernization - Contribute to platform migration and modernization initiatives across the application portfolio. - Map legacy business processes to modern platform capabilities, making sound build, buy, and configure decisions rather than recreating legacy designs by default. - Partner with data migration owners, focusing on platform and process fidelity while they handle the data mechanics. - ALM, DevOps & Delivery - Work within and help strengthen solution layering, environment strategy (DEV / UAT / PROD), and deployment pipelines. - Apply source control, CI/CD, and release management practices using Azure DevOps and GitHub. - Support structured incremental delivery across testing, UAT, and production stabilization. - Platform Expansion & Future Readiness - Help expand capabilities beyond the current Dynamics 365 and Power Platform footprint into the broader Microsoft cloud and custom development stack. - Evaluate and recommend new technologies, languages, and tools aligned with strategic direction. - Contribute to the team’s engineering standards and culture, and support the development of more junior team members. Qualifications - 7+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing business application solutions on the Microsoft stack. - Proven experience with: - Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (model-driven app design: forms, views, business rules, security roles). - Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate cloud flows, Dataverse). - Solution architecture and ALM (managed and unmanaged layering, publisher strategy, environment management). - Integration design (REST and Web APIs, Dataverse, event-driven automation). - Strong development skills across: - C# and .NET (plugins, custom workflow activities, services). - JavaScript and TypeScript (client-side scripting and web resources). - SQL (querying and data shaping). - PowerShell and Power Fx. - Source control, CI/CD, and deployment using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub. - Experience reading, extending, and maintaining existing solutions, not only greenfield builds. - Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and business teams. Requirements - Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Mathematics, from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related field experience. Benefits - Competitive pay with bonus opportunities. - Medical, prescription, dental & vision coverage with zero to low weekly premiums. - 401(k) with discretionary company match. - Generous paid time off (vacation, sick time, and paid holidays). - Disability income protection. - Life insurance for employees and eligible dependents. - Optional added protection with critical illness and accident plans. - Career growth & development opportunities. - In-house training programs. - Certificate & tuition reimbursement. - Wellness program. - Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
