Role Description As our Substation Engineer, you will be hands-on with the technical support on both physical and protection & control (P&C) projects and will work closely with NV5 Substation Engineering leadership to ensure project success. You will be working in small project teams to provide exceptional customer service and quality in deliverables to our clients. - Prepare conceptual designs and execution plans - Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules - Perform and document quality reviews for other engineers and designers - Prepare construction drawings, documents, calculations, and studies for medium and high voltage substation projects - Responsible for technical delivery of power delivery engineering projects or tasks - Prepare calculations, studies, and reports for substation and power systems projects meeting internal and client standards and requirements - Apply engineering design principles and practices including formulas - Work and coordinate with small multi-discipline (Civil, Structural, Physical, P&C, Transmission Line) project teams to execute substation projects - Responsible for providing weekly updates to Sr. team leaders on milestone progress, estimated completion dates including percent completion of activities and supporting information to monitor project progress Qualifications - 2+ years of experience in the Substation/Power Delivery field - Experience with high voltage substation design (12kV through 500kV) activities such as preparing one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, panel layouts, AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams, physical layouts, electrical elevations, plans (equipment, grounding, and raceway), and bills of materials including selection of non-standard equipment - Ability to interpret and apply standards including IEEE, IEC, NESC, and client standards - Strong preference for those with excellent written and verbal communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, great organizational skills, proactive and forward-thinking individuals - Experience with power system calculations (AC station service, DC battery sizing, and Voltage Drop/Cable Selection) is a plus - Experience with relay settings is a plus - Knowledge of substation physical equipment is a plus - Knowledge of Protection and Controls design is a must - B.S. Role Description Make a meaningful impact on national security by supporting the Space Development Agency (SDA) in delivering the Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) software development and hosting environment for the National Defense Space Architecture (NDSA). These systems accelerate the secure development, testing, and deployment of mission critical space applications that enable Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2). Key Responsibilities - RMF Process Implementation - Lead the end-to-end RMF lifecycle for DoD IT systems, including categorization, control selection, implementation, assessment, and monitoring. - Conduct and oversee system security risk assessments and recommend strategies to mitigate risks effectively. - Develop, review, and maintain security documentation such as System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), and Risk Assessment Reports (RARs). - Serve as the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) or provide subject matter expertise to ISSOs. - Compliance and Policy Adherence - Ensure compliance with DoD 8500.01, 8570.01, NIST 800-53, and other applicable cybersecurity regulations and standards. - Provide guidance for achieving and maintaining Authority to Operate (ATO) and addressing Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) items. - Audit and Assessment - Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments, utilizing industry-standard tools to identify and mitigate risks. - Facilitate independent verification and validation (IV&V) activities to ensure thorough system testing. - Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement - Collaborate with stakeholders, including system owners, process owners, and leadership, to ensure compliance with RMF requirements. - Provide cybersecurity training, awareness, and mentorship to team members and stakeholders. - Incident Response & Continuous Monitoring - Support the development and execution of incident response protocols. - Establish and maintain continuous monitoring initiatives to detect and address emerging threats.
