Weekday (YC W21)We are a Y-Combinator-backed startup building your AI-powered Recruiter Agent
Role Description This role is for one of the Weekday's clients. We are building a one-of-a-kind company memory: a system that understands an organization's context, goals, and culture, giving both individual contributors and leaders unprecedented transparency into what's happening across the company and how it all aligns. Our goal is simple and hard: never let a company lose itself as it scales. This is a senior engineering role, where the architecture, standards, and systems you build now are the ones the rest of the company will be built on. Responsibilities - Architect and build the core backend and platform from the ground up, the foundational systems everything else depends on. - Design and ship LLM agents that reason over large, messy, real-world organizational data, and make them reliable enough to trust. - Make the foundational calls, architecture, infrastructure, data, tooling, and set the bar for engineering quality on the team. - Operate with full autonomy; in a team this small, your judgment directly shapes the product, the codebase, and the company. Qualifications - You've spent years building and operating backend and platform systems at real scale, and you've been the person your team turned to for the hardest problems. - Deep expertise in Python, distributed/platform systems, API design, and SQL data stores, comfortable owning systems end to end, from design through production. - A track record of leading ambiguous, high-impact projects end to end. You've set technical direction, not just executed against someone else's. - Hands-on experience (or strong, fast-forming intuition) with LLMs, agentic frameworks, and RAG, and a feel for building dependable products on top of nondeterministic models. - You want the scope, pace, and consequence of an early-stage company over the structure of a large one. - Has owned and operated systems at meaningful scale at a strong engineering org, Staff / Senior Staff / Principal-level scope, even if the title varies. - Example signal: Staff/Senior/Principal at Databricks, Snowflake, Google, Meta, Amazon, OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, Notion, Ramp, Scale AI, or an early/senior founding engineer at a reputable VC-backed startup. - Most of their experience should not come from banks/financial companies, slow-moving non-tech, telecom, transportation/govt, etc. - Has been a technical anchor, the person who sets direction, makes the hard architectural calls, and unblocks others. - High drive for problem-solving and developing a deep, first-principles understanding of any challenge they take on. - Strong agency and independence, doesn't rely on others when it isn't necessary, comfortable defining the problem as well as solving it. - Excited (not just willing) to work in an early-stage environment: fast pace, fast iteration, high ownership. - Important: Backend depth, building robust production systems, APIs, Python. Requirements - Must-have skills: Backend Engineering, AI Engineer Nice to Have - Previous founder, founding-member, or intrapreneur experience. - Drawn to new, ambiguous problems with no clear solution. - Fluent with AI tools for research and writing high-quality code. - Experience with LLMs, AI agents, and making sense of large/heterogeneous data. - Obsession with details and strong product sense. - Strong communicator. Salary and Location - Salary range: Rs 5000000 - Rs 10000000 (ie INR 50-100 LPA) - Min Experience: 5+ years - Location: Remote (India) - Job Type: full-time
• Develop, maintain, and enhance applications and automation scripts using Python. • Design and support CI/CD pipelines for application deployment. • Manage source code repositories using Git and GitHub. • Automate operational and development processes using scripting and DevOps tools.
