Role Description We are advancing our Python-based rating infrastructure. This will allow Chubb to deploy, test, and evolve pricing logic at pace and with precision. The AVP, Rating Platform Software Engineer, will lead the technical build-out of this infrastructure. - Design and develop internal pricing services. - Set architectural direction for our Python rating ecosystem. - Align fragmented patterns across lines of business. - Partner closely with actuarial, product, and implementation teams to translate filed rating plans into production-grade code. - This is a hands-on technical leadership role spanning BOP today, with expansion planned across Commercial Property, General Liability, Workers Compensation, and Commercial Auto. - Opportunity to establish engineering patterns, testing rigor, and scalable architecture that will define how we build and ship rating capability for the next decade. What You Will Own - Rating Engine Development & Architecture - Design, build, and maintain internal Python-based pricing services and data models supporting actuarial and product teams across commercial lines. - Develop and enhance rating engine services that support multiple lines of business and enable extensible, account-level pricing. - Create product configuration services that allow product owners to safely update coverage options and pricing parameters. - Operate as a hands-on technical leader: roughly 30-40 percent in code, 60-70 percent in system design, architecture review, and PR review. - Establish engineering standards, design patterns, and reusable components that scale across lines of business. - Testing, Quality & Production Confidence - Develop best-in-class, scalable testing infrastructure that ensures confidence in rating accuracy, both in production and across the Python rating infrastructure. - Build automated validation frameworks to support UAT, regression testing, and ensure rating compliance. - Partner with implementation teams to ensure consistency between filed rating plans and deployed code. - Data Integration & Predictive Modeling Enablement - Integrate and validate third-party data sources for pricing segmentation and predictive modeling. - Enable dislocation analysis across lines to support model development and implementation. - Occasionally build and deploy predictive models. - Partner with data science and actuarial teams to operationalize models within the rating infrastructure. - Squad Leadership in a Dotted-Line Agile Framework - Lead a dotted-line squad of onshore and offshore developers operating in an agile delivery model, with accountability for keeping the squad on task. - Set sprint priorities, unblock dependencies, and drive delivery cadence across squad members who report formally to other managers. - Provide technical direction through code review, architectural guidance, and active mentorship. - Establish working agreements, intake discipline, and prioritization frameworks that protect squad capacity from ad hoc demand. - Partner with offshore people managers to provide input on performance, growth, and retention of squad members. - Collaborate closely with implementation teams across commercial insurance to develop standardized patterns and scalable solutions. - Partner with actuarial, platform engineering, and implementation teams to align on requirements, sequencing, and delivery. Role Description The .NET Developer (Warehouse Applications) builds and maintains the applications that run our warehouse operations. This is primarily a hands-on development role, building new features and improving existing systems, with a support component covering the early shift. The role works the 6 AM – 2 PM shift and is part of our morning support coverage because operations start early. - Build and maintain .NET applications that support warehouse and fulfillment operations. - Develop new features and improve existing systems, writing clean, testable, and maintainable code. - Participate in code review and follow the team's development, branching, and deployment practices. - Troubleshoot data and integration issues across applications, services, and databases. - Provide production support during the early shift, including responding to warehouse floor issues and on-call alerts and seeing them through to resolution. - Work directly with warehouse managers and operations staff to understand problems and deliver fixes. - Document work clearly in Jira, keep ticket statuses current, and communicate status to the team and stakeholders. Qualifications - 4+ years building and supporting applications with C# and .NET. - Solid SQL Server skills, including writing and troubleshooting queries. - Experience with web applications such as Blazor, ASP.NET, or React. - Experience with source control, both Git and SVN. - Experience with messaging or integration tooling. RabbitMQ strongly preferred. - Experience supporting production systems and resolving live issues, and a habit of asking for help early when blocked. - Clear written communication and disciplined documentation. - Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude for development, troubleshooting, and analysis. This is a must for the role. - Able to work the 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM shift. This is not negotiable for this position.
