Role Description We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Technology team. Reporting directly to the Director of Technology, this role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to lead complex technical initiatives that directly support business operations. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining business-critical applications while partnering closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain new services, user interfaces, and application features across our Java backend and Node.js/TypeScript frontend. - Partner with business users to understand requirements, validate solutions, and ensure we are building features that deliver meaningful value. - Write, test, and maintain high-quality, reliable code that improves system performance and user experience. - Manage frequent software deployments while helping advance our development processes toward continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD). - Prioritize development efforts by balancing strategic product roadmap initiatives with bug fixes, technical debt, and operational improvements. - Participate in an on-call rotation to monitor system health, troubleshoot production issues, and resolve critical user-reported incidents. - Contribute to architectural discussions, technical design decisions, and continuous improvement of engineering best practices. - Mentor team members through technical collaboration, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. Qualifications - Five or more years of professional software development experience with a demonstrated ability to independently deliver complex features and contribute to architectural design decisions. - Experience developing applications in Java and TypeScript, or the ability to quickly become proficient in these technologies. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for building scalable, maintainable software. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Curiosity and interest in learning the business processes and operational needs of the farm and nursery industries. - A collaborative mindset with a commitment to fostering respect, continuous learning, and a customer-focused culture. - Experience using AI-assisted software development tools responsibly to improve productivity while maintaining code quality, security, and sound engineering judgment. Preferred Experience - Experience with applications in our technology stack: Java backend and Node.js/TypeScript frontend, Microsoft SQL Server, Odoo, Java Swing, BitBucket Pipelines, and Claude code. Role Description The .NET Developer (Warehouse Applications) builds and maintains the applications that run our warehouse operations. This is primarily a hands-on development role, building new features and improving existing systems, with a support component covering the early shift. The role works the 6 AM – 2 PM shift and is part of our morning support coverage because operations start early. - Build and maintain .NET applications that support warehouse and fulfillment operations. - Develop new features and improve existing systems, writing clean, testable, and maintainable code. - Participate in code review and follow the team's development, branching, and deployment practices. - Troubleshoot data and integration issues across applications, services, and databases. - Provide production support during the early shift, including responding to warehouse floor issues and on-call alerts and seeing them through to resolution. - Work directly with warehouse managers and operations staff to understand problems and deliver fixes. - Document work clearly in Jira, keep ticket statuses current, and communicate status to the team and stakeholders. Qualifications - 4+ years building and supporting applications with C# and .NET. - Solid SQL Server skills, including writing and troubleshooting queries. - Experience with web applications such as Blazor, ASP.NET, or React. - Experience with source control, both Git and SVN. - Experience with messaging or integration tooling. RabbitMQ strongly preferred. - Experience supporting production systems and resolving live issues, and a habit of asking for help early when blocked. - Clear written communication and disciplined documentation. - Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude for development, troubleshooting, and analysis. This is a must for the role. - Able to work the 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM shift. This is not negotiable for this position. • Be a resource for the team on B2C commerce best practices. • Assist with application ownership over the Optimizely Commerce Connect platform, including administration, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and development. • Develop integrations relevant to the Optimizely Commerce Connect environment. • Support and assist with system upgrades, including technical and functional testing. • Collaborate with other team members to inform overall architectural decisions around Optimizely Commerce Connect. • Thoroughly understand stakeholder requirements and manage all requirements accordingly to add value for each stakeholder. • Coordinate and manage support and bug escalations to external vendors and support teams. • Develop and maintain documentation of detailed system solutions, troubleshooting guides, best practices, and relevant business process mapping. • Work closely with remote development teams to ensure the software meets business and technical requirements and is scalable, maintainable, and secure. • Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues. • Ensure the development of web applications to the highest quality and performance standards. • Develop code in a manner that is scalable, efficient, and performant. • Support and assist with technical and functional testing. • Work to build relationships with internal IT and business teams and external vendors to drive value-added solutions. • Perform other duties as needed or assigned
