As an Accounting Manager, you will coordinate and manage the accounting function, ensuring the accuracy and maintenance of the ledger accounts and resultant financial statements. Your responsibilities will also include complex accounting projects. Responsibilities: - Manage internal and external monthly, quarterly and year-end reinsurance reporting. - Ensure that all regulatory reporting requirements and compliance activities are satisfied. - Analyze actual financial results against plan and prior periods by providing commentary on a monthly basis. - Develop strong relationships with key reinsurance partners and brokers to support placement renewals and post placement activity. - Hire, develop, coach and make compensation recommendations for assigned staff. - Manage the reinsurance book for the North America operations to include bordereaux reporting, cash calls, cash settlements, account reconciliations, manual bookings and planning. - Effectively establish and communicate departmental objectives to staff and ensure they are delivered on and adherence to accounting controls and deadlines. - Utilize all resources (technology, staff, other departments, etc.) in order to conduct complex accounting projects. - Participate in broad projects by providing technical accounting expertise to a larger group. - Research the most complex accounting issues. - Prepare and deliver formal presentations to management to summarize findings. - Manage projects across departments. - Establish timetables and sets priorities. - Establish and maintain effective communication across departments to ensure accurate and timely completion. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent accounting experience, CPA preferred. - Extensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures. - Extensive experience dealing with statutory authorities and expertise on statutory matters and compliance requirements. - Ability to assess and communicate financial implications of business plans and actions. - Ability to display profit orientation and business results focus. Demonstrates business partnering ability and focus on business results. - Ability to communicate in non-technical terms and present analysis in an understandable and concise manner. - Knowledge of reinsurance concepts and related accounting.
