Role Description We're seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Principal Windows Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our enterprise IT infrastructure. This role requires an expert with overall 14+ years of experience spanning: - Windows Server technologies - Multi-cloud environments (Azure and IBM Cloud) - Complex Software-Defined Storage (SDS) and hyper-converged solutions The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker capable of driving innovation, ensuring system reliability, and mentoring technical teams. Qualifications - 14+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, with a strong focus on Windows Server and architectural roles. - Deep expertise in Windows Server (2012 R2 - 2022) and core services (AD, DNS, DHCP, Clustering). - Extensive experience with virtualization platforms: VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V. - Proven architectural experience with at least one major public cloud: Microsoft Azure (required) and familiarity with IBM Cloud (highly desirable). - Expertise in Software-Defined Storage (SDS), with hands-on experience in Dell PowerFlex and/or similar technologies (e.g., VMware vSAN, Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct). - Strong knowledge of enterprise storage solutions from vendors like Dell and HPE, including SAN, NAS, and Fibre Channel/iSCSI networking. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and executive audiences. - Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization). Requirements - Lead the architecture, design, and roadmap planning for on-premises and cloud-based Windows Server and storage infrastructure. - Develop high-level and low-level designs for enterprise solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements for scalability, resilience, security, and performance. - Drive migration strategies for moving workloads from on-premises environments (Hyper-V, VMware) to Azure Cloud and IBM Cloud. - Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions, particularly within the Software-Defined Storage and hyper-converged infrastructure space. - Serve as the subject matter expert for Windows Server operating systems (all current versions), Active Directory, Group Policy, and core infrastructure services. - Design and manage enterprise virtualization platforms, specifically VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V. - Architect and manage Dell PowerFlex (formerly VxFlex OS) and other Software-Defined Storage solutions. - Hands-on experience with configuration and administration of enterprise storage arrays from Dell (e.g., PowerMax, Unity) and HPE (e.g., 3PAR, Nimble). - Implement and manage cloud services, specifically Azure IaaS/PaaS components, networking, and governance policies, and similar services within IBM Cloud. - Define and enforce standards, documentation, and operational procedures for all managed infrastructure. - Troubleshoot and resolve the most complex, high-impact infrastructure issues. - Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to infrastructure engineers and operational support teams. - Collaborate with security teams to ensure the infrastructure adheres to all corporate and regulatory compliance standards. • Evolving the AI knowledge platform - taking the retrieval, indexing, and synthesis layer (currently semantic RAG + re-ranking + HyDE) to an organization-wide platform serving both internal engineering tools and customer-facing capabilities. • Architecting and operating agentic infrastructure on AWS - multi-step, tool-using AI systems that plan, retrieve, and act on complex queries and operational events, with cost guardrails and observability built in from day one. • Designing and building graph-based, relationship-aware retrieval across the organization's data sources, enabling multi-hop queries and letting agents accumulate organizational knowledge over time.
