Role Description The Senior Sales Manager, Japan combines strategic sales, market development, and commercial partnership building. Reporting to the Director of Sales, you'll be responsible for driving new programmatic advertising revenue while establishing and expanding StackAdapt's presence across Japan. This is more than a traditional territory sales role. As the commercial lead for Japan, you'll be responsible for: - Building pipeline and accelerating revenue growth. - Developing strategic commercial partnerships that create scalable opportunities for long-term market expansion. - Identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities while navigating evolving market dynamics. A successful Senior Sales Manager will: - Understand clients' long-term business objectives and identify opportunities to grow their business through StackAdapt's programmatic advertising solutions. - Work closely with Client Success, Product, Marketing, and regional leadership teams to shape go-to-market strategy, develop partnership opportunities, and establish StackAdapt as a trusted partner across Japan. StackAdapt is a remote-first company, and our Sales teams are regionalised. For this role, we are prioritising candidates located in Japan. Qualifications - 8+ years of experience in digital advertising, AdTech, or programmatic advertising sales, with a proven track record of exceeding new business targets. - Experience selling digital advertising solutions to agencies and/or brands in Japan, with deep knowledge of the Japanese advertising ecosystem. - Demonstrated success building pipeline from scratch, winning net-new business, and consistently delivering revenue growth in quota-carrying sales roles. - Proven experience developing new markets, launching commercial initiatives, or driving growth within established or emerging territories. - Experience building strategic commercial partnerships, agency alliances, or other routes to market that accelerate customer acquisition and long-term revenue growth. - Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify market opportunities, prioritise effectively, and execute independently in fast-paced growth environments. - Experience selling a Demand-Side Platform (DSP), programmatic platform, or other AdTech solution is highly desirable. - Existing relationships with agencies, brands, or strategic partners across Japan are highly valued. - Experience working across Japan or wider APAC markets is preferred. - Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders, uncover business challenges, and position solutions that deliver measurable outcomes. - Experience using CRM platforms to manage pipeline, forecast accurately, and maintain high standards of sales discipline. - Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and build credibility quickly in new markets. - Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating effectively across regional and global teams. - Fluency in both Japanese and English is required. Requirements - Identify, prospect, and close new programmatic advertising opportunities with agencies, brands, and strategic partners across Japan. - Build and execute the commercial strategy for Japan, creating sustainable pipeline and consistently converting opportunities into revenue. - Develop and grow strategic commercial partnerships that expand StackAdapt's reach, create new routes to market, and accelerate long-term revenue growth. - Identify new market opportunities through agency partnerships, strategic alliances, and evolving customer needs. - Manage and grow strategic client relationships by identifying opportunities to expand partnerships and increase long-term customer value. - Partner closely with Client Success to deliver exceptional customer outcomes while identifying opportunities for continued account growth. - Work cross-functionally with Sales Leadership, Product, Client Success, Marketing, and Operations to share market insights, influence regional strategy, and support commercial growth initiatives. - Build and maintain trusted relationships with agencies, brands, commercial partners, and key industry stakeholders across Japan. - Develop a deep understanding of local market dynamics, competitive activity, customer behaviour, and industry trends to uncover new revenue opportunities. - Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and opportunity tracking through CRM while consistently exceeding revenue targets. - Represent StackAdapt at client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities to strengthen brand presence and expand market relationships. - Travel regularly throughout Japan to support client engagement, partnership development, and commercial growth.
