About the role The Operations Advisor reports into the National Operations Manager with a dotted line into the Head of Practice (HOP) of the associated Business Unit and General Manager. The role is responsible for driving key operational and strategic initiatives, projects and day to day tasks to support the achievement of division/practice objectives (client, case, financial, operational and others). The role has some Personal Assistant duties for the relevant HOP and acts as a liaison between the HOP and Practice Leaders and Shared Service functions. The Operations Advisor has broad accountability for partnering colleagues and key stakeholders across the broader business to drive and improve key processes, operating models, and case progression. The role is also accountable for proactively providing expert advice and support in the resolution of operational and administrative issues and concerns across the division. Key Responsibilities - Demonstrates strong knowledge of case management and progression requirements, preparing and analysing reports to support legal teams in advancing and resolving matters. Monitors key metrics, ensures process compliance, drives continuous improvement and data quality initiatives, supports financial awareness, facilitates Legal Cost Agreement conversions, and assists with strategic legal operations initiatives. - Drives continuous improvement, process efficiency and operational consistency by reducing duplication, resolving workforce challenges, implementing strategic solutions, improving business performance, and enhancing operational frameworks through effective documentation, processes and procedures. - Builds stakeholder partnerships, supports recruitment, drives operational outcomes, represents the practice in projects, and manages escalations effectively. - Supports workforce coordination, planning, training, onboarding, upskilling, and resourcing across legal support teams. Manages budgets and costs, builds collaborative relationships, drives innovation, reduces aged debtors, and partners across teams to implement change and training initiatives. - Coordinates communications, manages schedules and travel, represents leadership, and provides administrative, reporting, presentation, and correspondence support. What will you bring? - The Operations Advisor is required to exercise a high level of judgement and discretion in the delivery and execution of decisions and initiatives in consultation with the HOP, National Operations Managers and General Managers where required. - Proven and in-depth experience in a senior legal support capacity. - In-depth understanding of practice group operations and processes including Workflow. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to tailor the approach depending on the situation - An understanding of the management of the file loads and the financial deliverables within an area of practice - Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the jurisdiction specific to the practice - Ability to think innovatively and strategically, and follow up with sound and thorough execution and implementation - High degree of adaptability and flexibility in periods of significant organisational change - Ability to build strong and influential relationships internally and externally - Excellent business acumen, organisational and time management skills - Pragmatic and consultative approach - Ability to overcome complex problems and issues within practice groups - Experience in navigating through complex people issues - Strong attention to detail - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs At Slater and Gordon, we are committed to helping our clients unlock justice and to creating a workplace where our people can do their best work.
