Role Description RCS Staffing has an immediate need for an Electric Distribution Project Engineer in Remote (US). This is a full-time contract-to-hire Remote assignment with our client. Overview of YOUR role as an Electric Distribution Project Engineer: - Lead impactful electric utility projects that help strengthen and modernize the power grid across our client's service area. - Oversee overhead and underground distribution projects from planning through construction. - Partner with clients, engineers, and field teams to deliver storm hardening, system improvement, new construction, reconductoring, and grid modernization initiatives. - Enjoy leading projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and making a lasting impact on critical infrastructure. As an Electric Distribution Project Engineer YOU will: - Apply complex technical information to designs and ensure projects meet specifications. - Fully understand design requirements in areas of expertise and lead small to medium or multi-discipline projects. - Direct the activities of Design Engineers working on assigned projects and provide leadership and guidance. - Prepare complex technical analyses and engineering reviews for utility distribution projects. - Lead and communicate with clients, estimate proposals, and understand the role of business development in operations goals. - Report to the Project Manager and communicate challenges about scope, cost, schedule, and quality. - Interact independently with clients and manage stakeholder relationships throughout project lifecycle. - Review vendor drawings and provide technical feedback on design-related deliverables. - Perform engineering reviews of utility distribution projects and ensure quality standards are maintained. - Self-check work assignments before submission, participate in peer reviews and quality control reviews. - Ensure quality control processes are followed, including documentation utilizing tracking tools for engineering reviews and formatting. - Provide input to Project Managers and leadership on process and design improvements. - Help evaluate design personnel and assign design-related tasks to Designers and Drafters. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university (required). - 4+ years of relevant work experience in utility design and distribution projects (required). - Proficiency with utility design software such as ArcFM, ArcMap, Infor, PoleForeman, and AutoCAD. - Experience with overhead and underground distribution system design. - Strong technical knowledge of utility design requirements and standards. - Ability to lead and manage design teams and direct project activities. - Strong communication skills with ability to interact with clients and stakeholders. - Project management and planning skills. - Experience with storm hardening, system improvements, and grid modernization projects. Requirements - Experience with reconductoring projects. - Advanced knowledge of utility design software platforms. - PMP (Project Management Professional) certification. - PE (Professional Engineer) license or progress toward licensure. - Experience managing multiple concurrent projects. - Background in utility business development.
