Job Description
Content Strategist
SurveyMonkey
Role Description SurveyMonkey is running content like a newsroom, constant output of sharp, specific, unmistakably-us writing: blog posts that take a real stance, campaign copy that earns attention, landing pages that convert, social content that builds audiences, and short-form assets that stretch across every channel we touch. This role sits at the intersection of AI-assisted writing and data-informed storytelling. You'll work with data scientists and analysts to find the insight inside the dataset, then turn it into something a human actually wants to read. This is not a traditional content manager role. It's also not a "prompt engineer" role. It's both, at once: a skilled human writer who has cracked the code on how to get great output from AI tools, and who can move fast without sacrificing the voice, the specificity, or the point of view that makes SurveyMonkey content worth reading. You'll sit inside the MarCo team and partner closely with brand, comms, social, product marketing, and our data science team. What you’ll be working on - Own content production across long-form (blog, SEO, reports, thought leadership) and short-form (ads, emails, social, landing page copy, in-product messaging) formats. - Use AI writing tools fluently to draft, iterate, and scale — while serving as the final editor and quality check before anything goes out. - Translate briefs, strategy docs, and campaign inputs into structured, brand-consistent prompts and workflows that produce first drafts worth editing. - Partner with data scientists and analysts to find the story inside a dataset — turning survey results, product usage trends, or research reports into clear, compelling narratives that non-technical audiences actually want to engage with. - Take raw numbers and turn them into headlines, frameworks, and angles — not just captions for charts. - Maintain and evolve a library of prompt frameworks, brand guidelines, and content reference material that any AI tool can be pointed at. - Develop and manage a content calendar in collaboration with campaign and channel leads. - Adapt tone and format by channel and audience without losing our voice: the same witty, human, reliable curiosity should read naturally in a LinkedIn post, a product email, and a 2,000-word report. - Work with brand and creative teams to help ensure AI-assisted output doesn't flatten our personality. - Spot and fix the tell-tale signs of generic AI content before we add to the slop. Qualifications - 5+ years of content writing experience, with a portfolio that shows range across long-form and short-form formats. - Demonstrable fluency with AI writing tools (we use Claude and Gemini) not as a novelty, but as a core part of your writing process. - A genuine editorial instinct: you know when copy is too vague, too hedged, or too obviously machine-generated, and you fix it without being told. - Proven ability to work with data — you can sit with a spreadsheet, a research report, or a data scientist's findings and extract a point of view worth publishing. - Comfort with data visualization concepts and the ability to write copy that contextualizes and amplifies charts rather than just labeling them. - Experience writing for a SaaS or technology brand, ideally in a marketing context. - Comfort with SEO fundamentals and writing for organic discovery. - The ability to internalize a brand voice deeply enough to replicate it across contexts and tools — and to teach that voice to an AI. - Strong project management instincts: you can juggle multiple active briefs, flag blockers early, and hit deadlines without a lot of hand-holding. - A bias toward specificity. Generic thought leadership is not our thing. A strong, brave, helpful point of view is. Requirements - The base pay provided for this position ranges from $95,200.00/ year - $112,000.00/ year depending on the geographic market and assuming a full-time schedule. - Actual base pay is based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, education or training, skills, and experience. Benefits - Bonuses may also be offered as part of the total compensation package. - Competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. - RRSP matching. - Flexible spending & health savings account. - Paid holidays and paid time off. - Employee assistance program. - Other company benefits.
