Role Description Nexaminds is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to lead a high-impact team responsible for internal developer platform initiatives and developer productivity across the organization. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering leadership with hands-on technical expertise in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, and AI-assisted development. This is a player-coach role, requiring active contribution to architecture, coding, technical decision-making, and platform delivery while driving team performance, roadmap execution, and developer experience improvements at scale. Qualifications - 8+ years of professional software engineering experience. - Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers. - Proven ability to balance technical leadership responsibilities with hands-on development. - Experience owning and executing technical roadmaps aligned with business and engineering objectives. - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently research, diagnose, and resolve complex technical challenges. - Strong experience with C# / .NET development. - Strong experience designing and operating solutions within Microsoft Azure environments. - Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent). - Experience designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar technologies. - Experience making architectural and technical decisions at the platform or team level. - Experience using Python for automation, scripting, or platform tooling. - Experience with Azure PaaS services including Container Apps, Functions, Service Bus, Key Vault, and API Management. - Experience with Docker and containerization technologies. - Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems. - Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams. Requirements - Nice to have experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and agentic developer workflows. - Experience with observability platforms such as OpenTelemetry, Application Insights, Datadog, or similar solutions. - Experience integrating security tooling such as GitHub Advanced Security, SonarQube, or equivalent platforms. - Experience leading CI/CD platform migrations (e.g., Azure DevOps to GitHub). - Public speaking, internal enablement, technical evangelism, or thought leadership experience. - Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source developer platform tooling. Job Duties - Lead and manage a team of engineers focused on Developer Platform and Developer Experience initiatives. - Conduct 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, career development planning, and ongoing coaching to support engineer growth and success. - Hire, onboard, and build a high-performing engineering team while fostering a collaborative and low-ego culture. - Establish clear expectations, provide direct feedback, and address performance challenges constructively. - Own and prioritize the roadmap across Developer Platform and Developer Experience initiatives, balancing investments across Internal Developer Platforms, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, observability, AI tooling, and developer productivity programs. - Translate organizational goals, including AI adoption, deployment frequency, pull request cycle time, and developer satisfaction metrics, into actionable team deliverables. - Partner with Application Architecture, engineering leadership, product stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align platform investments with business objectives. - Communicate roadmap priorities, progress, risks, and trade-offs to leadership and platform stakeholders. - Contribute directly as an engineer by writing code, reviewing pull requests, designing solutions, and collaborating with team members on implementation efforts. - Author and review Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and technical design proposals. - Participate in complex troubleshooting, incident response, and critical technical initiatives when required. - Maintain sufficient technical depth to make informed architectural and engineering decisions across platform domains. - Deliver and enhance Internal Developer Platform capabilities, including Backstage, Terraform module libraries, CI/CD pipelines, and shared developer tooling. - Drive adoption and effectiveness of AI-assisted development tools across the engineering organization. - Establish measurement frameworks for developer productivity and experience, leveraging data to guide investment decisions and improvements. - Champion paved roads, golden paths, self-service workflows, and platform capabilities that improve developer productivity and reduce cognitive load. - Collaborate with Architecture, Security, and Product Engineering teams to ensure platform solutions meet organizational needs. - Lead office hours, demos, enablement sessions, and adoption initiatives that improve awareness and utilization of platform capabilities. - Represent the team in architecture reviews, technical decision forums, and leadership discussions. - Continuously evolve platform engineering and developer experience strategies to align with emerging AI tooling, platform engineering best practices, and developer productivity trends.
