Role Description UNICEF is seeking a consultant to design and facilitate a highly participatory strategy development process for The Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (the Alliance). This consultancy aims to support the development of a new strategy/strategic plan for the period beginning in 2027. - Examine the current and emerging needs of the child protection in humanitarian action sector. - Identify trends, opportunities, risks, and challenges likely to shape the sector over the coming years. - Assess the Alliance's achievements, strengths, limitations, and comparative advantage. - Define the Alliance's future role and strategic positioning within the broader humanitarian ecosystem. - Build consensus among Alliance stakeholders regarding future priorities and strategic directions. - Engage with the Alliance technical group leadership to link the new strategy with the implementation plan. - Produce a validated strategic framework to guide the Alliance's work from 2027 for a period of 3 to 5 years. Qualifications - Master's degree in relevant field, preferably in International Development/Development Studies, International Relations, Human Rights, International Law, or others. - At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in strategic planning. - Significant experience in facilitating organizational or network strategy development processes. - Experience in facilitating multi-stakeholder consultations and consensus-building processes. - Experience in working with global networks, alliances, or membership-based organizations. - Experience in integrating localization, participation, and equity considerations into strategic planning. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Role Description Avaaz is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Senior Finance Transformation & Systems Consultant to support a major period of finance systems, process and operating model change. This is a fixed-term internal transformation role within the Finance team. The consultant will work alongside Finance leadership to help design, coordinate and deliver connected workstreams, including: - Avaaz UK’s functional currency transition from USD to EUR - Finance operations improvements across payments, cards, expenses and AP workflows - Assessment and possible implementation of a spend/AP/card platform - Preparation for a future ERP transition - Alignment of finance systems and reporting with Avaaz’s evolving multi-entity, multi-currency operating model This role exists to help Avaaz move through this transition in a structured, practical and sustainable way, while preparing the organisation for its longer-term finance systems architecture. Responsibilities - Functional currency transition and systems roadmap: - Support Avaaz Finance in planning and implementing the Avaaz UK functional currency transition from USD to EUR. - Map the operational, accounting and reporting impact of the transition. - Help define the cutover approach, including treatment of transition-period transactions and opening balances. - Coordinate input from QuickBooks specialists, accounting advisers, auditors and tax advisers. - Identify data, reconciliation and reporting requirements. - Ensure the transition is properly documented for audit and accounts purposes. - Help Finance understand the impact on monthly reporting, budget tracking, revenue reporting and consolidated reporting. - Finance operations, spend, AP, cards and payments improvement: - Review current finance systems and workflows, including accounting software, expense management, banking/payment processes, card processes, revenue reporting and related trackers. - Document current pain points across cards, payments, expenses, approvals and invoice workflows. - Identify where current systems are creating manual work, control risk, delays or poor user experience. - Define selection criteria for a spend/AP/card platform. - Assess vendor capabilities across global cards, multi-currency payments, approvals, expense management, invoice processing, VAT, reporting, controls and ERP integration. - Coordinate demos and vendor follow-up. - Prepare recommendations for Finance and Operations leadership. - Support implementation if a platform is selected. - ERP readiness and multi-entity finance design: - Support Avaaz in preparing for a future ERP transition. - Help define future-state finance requirements. - Map processes and data flows that will need to be reflected in a new ERP. - Support chart of accounts, dimensions, entity, currency, campaign and reporting design considerations. - Identify workflows that should be cleaned up before ERP implementation. - Prepare data, documentation and process maps for implementation partners. - Ensure system design supports audit, tax, VAT, transfer pricing and reporting requirements. - Project management, vendor coordination and documentation: - Act as a central internal project lead across connected finance transformation workstreams. - Build and maintain project plans, timelines, risk logs and decision logs. - Coordinate external advisers, implementation partners and vendors. - Prepare clear decision materials for Finance and Operations leadership. - Make dependencies visible and actively managed. - Keep workstreams moving without overloading core Finance team members. - Document decisions, workflows, controls and handover materials. - Support knowledge transfer within the Finance team. - Help embed improvements so they survive beyond the contract period. Qualifications - Significant experience in finance transformation, finance systems implementation, accounting operations or finance process improvement. - Experience working with multi-entity and multi-currency finance environments. - Strong understanding of accounting operations, AP, expenses, payments, reconciliations, close processes and financial reporting. - Proven ability to lead or support systems/process change in a complex organisation. - Experience translating finance team needs into system requirements and implementation plans. - Strong project management skills, including managing timelines, risks, dependencies and external vendors. - Ability to work independently, structure ambiguity and drive work forward. - Strong judgement: able to distinguish urgent from important, strategic from tactical, and good-enough from over-engineered. - Excellent communication skills, including ability to explain complex finance systems issues clearly to non-specialists. - Strong documentation skills. - Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, global and multicultural team. - High level of proficiency in English. You will be given the opportunity to work on a wide range of client sites, collaborating with internal teams and subcontractors and clients. How you'll make a difference - Manage and deliver a range of contaminated land and hydrogeology projects, including PSIs, SAQPs, DSIs, GMEs and UPSS upgrades. - Lead field work as site manager, overseeing remediation supervision, environmental sampling, and safety and quality on site. - Coordinate technical delivery across bore assessments, aquifer testing, drilling programs and groundwater monitoring, while managing subcontractors such as drilling, wireline and pumping test crews. - Oversee data management and reporting, and manage projects from opportunity through to close-out, including proposals, client engagement, budgeting and resourcing.
