Emergency Medical Technician – Driver
Medstar Transportation
• Must be flexible and willing to support multiple transportation services within the company, including wheelchair transport and Basic Life Support (BLS) operations. • Depending on operational needs, responsibilities may include driving wheelchair-accessible vehicles, serving as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) on BLS trips to provide patient care, or driving BLS transport units. • Candidates must be comfortable performing a variety of duties and adapting to different service assignments as needed. • Safely transport patients to and from medical facilities, residences, and hospitals using company emergency vehicles • Provide basic emergency and patient support within EMT scope of practice • Communicate clearly and effectively with dispatch, healthcare staff, patients, and family members • Utilize a smartphone and company systems for job-related functions • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness • Properly secure patients using stretchers, wheelchairs, and other medical transport devices • Maintain accurate trip logs, reports, and required documentation • Respond professionally and compassionately during emergency and non-emergency situations • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and state regulations • Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old (licensed for a minimum of 5 years)
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License
- Must have a valid EMT certification or ID
- Must NOT have more than 2 moving violations within the past 3 years
- Must pass a DOT drug screening and mandatory criminal background check
- Must be willing to work weekends and flexible shifts
- Must be physically capable of lifting, moving, and securing patients safely
- Ability to safely operate stretchers, wheelchairs, and medical transport equipment
- Must have strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Must have a positive attitude and a genuine desire to help others
