Senior Principal Systems Engineer

• Serve as a technical lead and systems engineer on challenging software development projects such as the Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S) or the Battlespace Command and Control Center (BC3). • Be engaged with exciting and innovative advancements in Multi-Sensor and Information Fusion, Networked Situational Awareness, and Visualization technologies. • Perform full life cycle systems engineering tasks including system requirements analysis, definition, architecture design, trade studies, integration, verification and validation (IV&V). • Serve as Technical Leader of medium to large engineering development teams. • Act as systems engineering discipline subject matter expert for department, mentoring other engineers and solving critical technical problems with innovative solutions. • Travel to customer sites as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Experience with design and requirements derivation for software; some technical leadership or mentoring experience
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Recognized subject matter expertise in deployed Command and Control (C2) systems.
  • Experience architecting complex software solutions for US and Allied military.
  • Experience with any of the following systems: Link 16 Tactical Data Link (J series messages), VMF (K series messages), Surveillance/Radars, Air Traffic Control, Mission Planning, Missile Systems or Combat/Fire Control systems.
  • Understand and apply commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the systems engineering field (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, Mil-Std-499B).
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect, and Cameo.
  • Experience with configuration and test of cloud-based software deployments.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) techniques and applying them as a Cost Account Manager (CAM).
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance

Role Description The Security Designer will be part of our national IES Design Branch and will be highly skilled in designing advanced professional CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection solutions, as well as other security systems, in the commercial security integration industry. The role involves providing consulting and design services for technology-enhanced spaces. The designer will actively participate in the design process for multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and the delivery of top-quality work to our clients. - Contribute as a key member of the project design team, bringing a significant level of expertise in Security systems and related design elements, with a forward-thinking perspective. - Engage in design meetings with our clients to determine project goals and requirements. - Develop Security systems recommendations. - Work collaboratively with the CAD/BIM Staff to develop high-quality Security infrastructure construction drawings, details, and systems drawings. - Review submittals of shop drawings, coordinating with architects, contractors, engineers, and other consultants. - Review intake forms or site surveys, designing customer solutions based on requirements, and producing documentation suitable for system installation and control system programming scopes. - Produce advanced Security designs including system line diagrams for CCTV, access control, and intrusion systems. - Read architectural, mechanical, and electrical (MEP) drawing sets. - Design with the latest Security products including but not limited to Avigilon, Bosch, Genetec, Honeywell, etc. - Create system integration documents, including Basis of Designs and CSI Specifications. - Communicate and coordinate technical design solutions with clients, installation teams, and vendors. - Provide operational team staff with high-end technical support on both pre- and post-design efforts. - Contribute to the design review and code review as required. - Develop and maintain knowledge of current and new technologies that the company offers. - Ensure that all work is completed on-time, in-budget, and consistently within IES's high standards of quality. - Act as a liaison and meet with sales, project management, and operations when the project is handed over for installation. - Ensure that the sales price aligns with the actual installation costs. - Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications - Minimum of five years of experience in the design and implementation of Security systems; experience with an independent consulting firm is a strong plus. - Extensive knowledge in the design of Security systems, including but not limited to: surveillance and CCTV; access control and various credential technology; intrusion detection. - Intimate knowledge of Security architectural requirements including but not limited to: sightline studies; structural support requirements; cabling pathways; architectural integration of Security equipment. - General knowledge of Information Technology (IT) services and digital media delivery technologies, network hardware, infrastructure, and system architecture. - Excellent attention to detail and outstanding communication skills, both oral and written. - Values that include integrity, accountability, and a willingness to have fun. - Works equally well as an individual contributor or team member. - Maintains a professional and positive attitude in a fast-paced and occasionally high-pressure environment. - Ability to assist with business development activities is preferred but required. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and BlueBeam.
