Role Description We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Special Education Teacher/Case Manager to join our team in a fully remote capacity for the upcoming school year. This position will primarily focus on special education case management responsibilities, including: - Ensuring compliance with IDEA requirements - Coordinating services - Facilitating meetings - Maintaining communication with families and school staff While the majority of the role is expected to center around case management, direct instruction and teaching responsibilities will also be included as needed. Please note that responsibilities may shift based on district needs between now and the start of the school year in late August. Candidates should be comfortable with flexibility and supporting students and staff in multiple capacities. Primary Responsibilities: - Manage and oversee special education caseloads in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations. - Coordinate and facilitate IEP meetings and annual reviews. - Maintain accurate and timely documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance records. - Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, administrators, and families to support student success. - Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned students and families. - Provide direct instruction and/or specially designed instruction as assigned. - Support the implementation of accommodations, modifications, and individualized educational programming. - Participate in virtual staff meetings, professional development, and team collaboration activities. Qualifications - Active South Dakota Special Education Teacher Certification (REQUIRED). - Certification must be active and in good standing prior to the start of employment. - Minimum of one year of experience in special education case management and/or instruction preferred. - Strong knowledge of IDEA regulations, IEP development, and special education compliance requirements. - Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills. - Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with school teams. Preferred Qualifications - Previous experience providing virtual instruction or services. - Experience managing a large or diverse special education caseload. - Familiarity with online IEP management systems and virtual learning platforms. Role Description Insight Schools of California (a network of three public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home-based instruction to students in grades 9-12 in California. Insight Schools of California serves at-risk students. We use K12, inc. as our curriculum provider for the basis of instruction and teachers provide live instruction via the Engageli platform. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to maintain daily attendance, attend instructional sessions, and complete their coursework each day. - The Special Education Mentor trains and supervises education specialists in relation to schoolwide and special education programs, procedures, and policies. - The Sped Mentor monitors compliancy and supports the team in meeting deadlines and requirements. - The Sped Mentor also serves as a member of the Insight leadership team and works collaboratively with other leaders toward accomplishing school goals and promoting student achievement. Qualifications - Must live in California. - Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Mild/Moderate and/or Moderate/Severe Disabilities. - California English Learner Authorization, certification issued by the CTC to teach ELL students.
