Job Description

Product Owner

Muse Group

Role Description MuseScore Studio is the world's leading free, open-source music notation application — used every day by hundreds of thousands of musicians, composers, students, and educators. We are looking for a Product Owner to lead its next chapter and shape the future of music creation and notation for one of the largest music communities in the world. We are actively integrating AI and automation into all areas of the business and expect candidates with a mindset focused on improving efficiency and delivering a better user experience. - Own a product used by millions: Shape the future of the world's leading free music notation platform, used by composers, educators, and musicians globally. - Radical ownership and impact: Drive product strategy, roadmap, and community engagement. - Work at the intersection of music, open source, and AI: Help define the next generation of creative tools alongside one of the largest music communities in the world. Key Responsibilities - Define MuseScore Studio's product strategy and roadmap with measurable goals and quarterly milestones. - Own backlog and prioritization end-to-end — what gets built, in what order, what gets cut, and why. - Make the product decisions that unblock the team — flows, edge cases, defaults, error states — and steer designers and engineers as they execute. - Drive every release end-to-end — plan, scope, quality bar, community communications, launch metrics. - Lead, develop, and grow the MuseScore Studio team — 22 people across engineering, design, music engraving, and the engineers behind our engraving engine. - Own how MuseScore Studio engages with its open-source community — set the strategy, organize the team's presence on the forum, GitHub, and Discord, and stay accountable for the narrative around every release. - Drive cross-product integrations across the Muse ecosystem — connect MuseScore Studio with adjacent surfaces to unlock end-to-end user value and measurable business outcomes. Qualifications - Proven Product Owner or Product Manager track record for a complex software product with a large active user base. - Deep understanding of music notation, composition workflows, or music software. - People management experience — you've directly led and grown a multidisciplinary team (engineers, designers, or both). - Strong written and verbal communication in English. - End-to-end data ownership — instrumenting, tracking, setting targets, and actually moving them. - Comfort engaging with vocal external communities — open-source, hobbyist, or professional. Nice to Have - Strong technical literacy. Comfortable working closely with engineers on a multi-platform C++ desktop application. Benefits - Creativity every day: Make inspiring products for musicians, artists and creators – no day is the same. - Impactful work: Influence the future of the music industry and change the lives of millions worldwide. - Work set up: We’ll make sure you’re set up for success with the right work equipment, whether that’s company-provided hardware or an equipment allowance. - Growth and development: Receive specialized training, language lessons, conferences and learning materials. - Team well-being: Support for your mental health and wellbeing, including confidential help during life’s tougher moments.

Role Description The Domain Owner for Core Banking is the senior product leader responsible for the strategic direction, squad output, and commercial outcomes of the Core Banking domain at Nymbus. - Lead multiple squads that build and evolve the core banking engine — deposits, lending, account structures, posting models, settlement, interest accrual, and the fundamental ledger infrastructure. - Manage Builders directly, collaborate daily with others assigned to your domain, and are accountable for everything your domain ships. - Operate with four capabilities simultaneously: strategic product leadership, people leadership of Builders, domain subject matter expertise, and AI-first execution. - Expected to be a hands-on SME in core banking systems. Qualifications - Active, hands-on experience with AI-assisted product design and development workflows. - Demonstrated use of AI tools for specification, iteration, and problem-solving. - Willingness to model AI-first practices for the entire domain. - Comfort operating in a spec-first, AI-native development methodology. - Understanding that AI-first does not mean lower precision — core banking demands both speed and correctness. - 8+ years in product, engineering, or technical leadership roles in core banking or financial services infrastructure. - Deep hands-on experience with core banking platforms. - Expert-level understanding of ledger structures, posting models, and double-entry accounting as implemented in bank systems. - Experience with loan servicing systems. - Understanding of batch processing, settlement, and end-of-day reconciliation at operational depth. - Experience with multi-tenant core banking platforms serving multiple financial institutions. - Knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting core operations. - Experience navigating the tradeoffs between configurability, correctness, and performance in core systems. - Experience managing and developing product builders, engineers, or technical product managers. - Track record of building high-performing teams that ship working software in high-stakes, correctness-critical domains. - Ability to operate at strategic and tactical levels simultaneously. - Experience making priority tradeoffs across competing demands with incomplete information. - Comfort with direct accountability for commercial outcomes tied to platform reliability and capability. - Strong understanding of database design, transaction processing, and distributed systems. - Deep familiarity with ledger architecture, ACID compliance, and data consistency patterns. - Ability to engage deeply in technical design discussions with Architects. - Experience with modern development workflows, CI/CD, and deployment practices for mission-critical systems. - Understanding of performance engineering for high-volume transaction processing. Requirements - Owns and executes on the product roadmap for the Core Banking domain. - Define the vision for how Nymbus builds a modern, configurable, multi-tenant core banking engine. - Prioritize squad work against business outcomes, client needs, and platform strategy. - Represent the domain in executive planning, client conversations, and board-level updates. - Drive commercial outcomes — your domain's reliability and capability directly impacts every client relationship. - Hire, develop, and performance-manage all Builders in the Core Banking domain. - Set clear expectations for AI-first execution, specification quality, and delivery velocity. - Coach Builders on domain expertise — particularly the nuances of ledger integrity, posting models, and regulatory constraints. - Build a team culture of precision, ownership, and continuous improvement. - Ensure Builders operate at the Nymbus hiring bar and AI fluency standard. - Serve as the authoritative SME for core banking within Nymbus. - Design and reason about account hierarchies, sub-ledgers, and posting models. - Understand batch processing, end-of-day settlement, and cutover windows. - Define product configuration logic for deposit products. - Model core-to-digital integration patterns. - Address data integrity, auditability, and operational controls required for regulatory and financial reporting. - Guide teams through loan servicing complexity. - Understand regulatory frameworks deeply. - Navigate the tension between multi-tenant configurability and system correctness. - Model AI-first working practices for the domain. - Set the standard for how Builders in your domain leverage AI tools. - Ensure specifications for core banking logic are precise, testable, and take full advantage of AI-augmented workflows. - Drive continuous improvement in squad velocity through AI-native methodology. - Evaluate and adopt new AI tools and practices that accelerate domain output. - Coordinate with other Domain Owners on integration surfaces. - Own the contract between Core and its consumers. - Partner with the Architecture Spine on platform-wide patterns. - Collaborate with COEs (UX, QA, Security) on standards compliance. - Align with Cloud and Infrastructure on performance, scalability, and batch processing requirements. Benefits - Annual Cash Bonus and Equity Options commensurate with the role level and experience. - 100% Remote. - 401(k) plan. - Insurance - Health, Dental and Vision. - Paid Time Off.
