Whether teaching English, GED prep, literacy, dance, yoga, fitness, or creative skills like curtain and jewelry making, instructors foster a welcoming and empowering environment that encourages adults to learn, grow, and feel at home in their child’s school. Essential Duties: - Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures. - Build strong relationships with parents and community members, encouraging trust and participation. - Create a classroom climate that is inclusive, culturally responsive, and conducive to adult learning. - Design and deliver relevant, practical instruction using group and individualized methods. - Teach adult basic education (e.g., reading, writing, math, English) and/or vocational and enrichment skills (e.g., crafts, fitness, dance, yoga). - Support adult learners of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and languages, helping them overcome barriers to success. - Maintain effective classroom management that enhances learning and engagement. - Encourage adults to feel comfortable and welcomed in the school environment. - Collect attendance and program data as needed. - Participate in team meetings, in-service sessions, and professional development opportunities. - Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: - 4 years’ experience teaching or training adults in academic, vocational, or enrichment areas (e.g., GED, ESL, yoga, dance, sewing). - Strong communication skills, both oral and written; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. In collaboration with schools, families, and community partners, the program works to expand access to resources and foster environments that promote positive youth development. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator plays a key role in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of program initiatives. This includes coordinating and supporting health educators, facilitating workshops and individual sessions, and contributing to the development of peer education and youth leadership components. The coordinator also partners with internal teams and external stakeholders to connect youth to essential services, support community engagement efforts, and ensure effective program delivery across assigned sites. Maintain attendance in existing community advisory committees, in partnership with the Program Manager. - Provide individual counseling services (sexual decision-making, growth and development, pregnancy prevention, STI’s and HIV pre and post-test counseling) to youth in CA program sites (community schools and youth centers) and other school and community-based settings. - Conduct evidence-based health education sessions/groups to youth and parents at CA, DOE and other CBO program sites as needed. - Participates in the process of developing, obtaining, evaluating and maintaining written and audio-visual health education materials as required by program. - Documents all group/workshops and individual counseling services. - Offers and arranges for family planning services at CA Health Centers for youth at program sites.
