We champion an inclusive culture and strive to attract and develop a talented workforce to create and deliver a wide range of content reflecting our world. Job Description In this role, you'll create software that automatically generates 3D environments or objects. Instead of random designs, your software will use real-world data, such as maps or object details, to make these environments look more realistic. The output from your work will be compatible with popular 3D platforms like Unreal and Unity, or as standalone 3D models. You'll work closely with the Pipeline and AI/ML teams to plan and improve the way this 3D data flows through our production process, helping it fit well with game environments. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: - Develop procedural generation techniques and software that are compatible with Unreal, Unity, and/or raw mesh output, fed by semantic data about the real world instead of random numbers. - Solve technical challenges to balance visual quality, realism, and performance in modern game engines, on commodity hardware. - Contribute to the Pipeline and AI/ML teams' design and road mapping process to fine-tune a game environment-compatible data pipeline. - Partner closely with leadership to understand the high-level product vision. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field - Minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience, ideally within a fast-paced, high-growth tech environment, demonstrating a proven track record of success and leadership in the gaming industry. - Experience with Unreal Engine, Unity, or other similar game engines, including proficiency in developing interactive applications, optimizing performance, and implementing real-time 3D graphics and gameplay features. - Proficient in both C# and Python, with a solid understanding of their respective ecosystems and the ability to leverage these languages for software development, scripting, and automation tasks. Desired Characteristics: - Enthusiasm for automated development processes and systems. - Extensive experience with procedural generation tools such as Houdini, Unreal Engine's PCG (Procedural Content Generation), and/or Blender is highly preferred. - Team-oriented and collaborative approach with a demonstrated aptitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn new methods, tools, practices and skills Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee's residence. This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Learn more about the benefits offered by NBCUniversal by visiting the Benefits page of the Careers website. Salary range: $140,000 - $175,000 (bonus eligible). We are accepting applications for this position on an ongoing basis. #LI-remote Additional Information As part of our selection process, external candidates may be required to attend an in-person interview with an NBCUniversal employee at one of our locations prior to a hiring decision.
