Cloud Engineer

• Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of applications • Design, deploy, and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) including host pools, golden images, autoscaling, FSLogix profiles, and user experience optimization • Develop and maintain automation using PowerShell and Bicep (preferred) to streamline Azure and AVD operations and reduce manual work • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Bicep and ARM templates for consistent, repeatable deployments • Monitor Azure and AVD environments for performance, availability, capacity, and security; configure alerts and remediation • Identify and implement cost-saving measures and performance optimizations, including AVD scaling plans and storage/right-sizing improvements • Ensure cloud infrastructure adheres to security and compliance best practices and organizational standards • Implement and manage security policies and procedures, including IAM, network security, conditional access, RBAC, and data protection • Configure and manage on-premises infrastructure and hybrid connectivity (e.g., VPN/ExpressRoute, identity sync) for seamless Azure and AVD integration
Job Requirements
- Azure expertise including ARM, Bicep, and Azure Virtual Desktop
- Identity and access management with Entra (Azure AD), including RBAC and conditional access
- Proficiency with Git, GitHub, and GitHub Runners for CI/CD workflows and policy-as-code
- Strong PowerShell scripting for automation, image management, and AVD administration
- Solid grounding in Azure networking, security, and hybrid connectivity concepts
- Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal
- Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-140 for AVD, AZ-305)
- Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Defender for Cloud, and cost governance
- Familiarity with image management (e.g., Azure Image Builder) and FSLogix tuning
- Experience with FinOps, Linux and Qlik

Role Description Thunder’s Delivery team implements technology-based solutions in the areas of business intelligence, analytics, information management, reporting and mobility. This team configures the company's proprietary software used to streamline business processes for commercial groups at client organizations. They take overall ownership of the delivery of the technical solutions, leading the design and development phases and collaborating with other teams for business requirements and system testing. The Salesforce Data Cloud Developer will draw on their skills and experience to create modules and packages which are holistically sound, contributing to discussions regarding the design of a set of solutions that will maximize the potential of the Salesforce platform. The candidate will work on application development using best practices as well as setting up and modifying systems built within Salesforce to solve some of the most exciting problems for our clients. Responsibilities - Data Cloud Architecture and Data Model Setup. - Data transformation using SF data cloud tools. - Data ingestion and integrations in batch as well as API based integration. - Calculated insights and formula field setup. - Segment creation and activation. • Navigate and remediate a complex brownfield estate featuring end-of-life operating systems (Windows Server 2008, older Linux), hardcoded IP addresses, and undocumented server-to-server dependencies. • Redesign and migrate legacy on-premises load balancing architecture to GCP Cloud Load Balancing (Internal/External models) with zero downtime. • Write, maintain, and deploy infrastructure strictly using Terraform within an existing codebase and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines. • Operate and troubleshoot pipelines using Workload Identity Federation (WIF) and OIDC token exchange for keyless GCP authentication. • Ensure all architectural changes strictly adhere to HIPAA and PIPEDA frameworks. • Manage active IPsec VPN tunnels between on-premises systems, GCP, and various third-party functional sites. • Leverage AI prompting tools to accelerate current-state understanding, map hidden dependencies, and compress discovery time.
