Technical Editor IV
HydroGeoLogic, Inc
HGL is seeking a part-time as needed Technical Editor IV to provide additional overflow support to our Editorial Group. We are looking for an experienced editor with a background in government contract work in the environmental industry. In this role, you will be conducting editorial reviews and revisions of project deliverables such as environmental investigation, restoration, and construction reports. Clients for these reports include the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This is a remote/work from home position based anywhere in the U.S. Ensure writing is clear, concise, and consistent with HGL and project-specific requirements. Confirm logical deliverable organization. Review grammar and spelling. Verify acronyms and abbreviations are defined at first reference and are in acronym list. Verify table of contents and lists of appendices/tables/figures are complete. Check cross references to report sections, tables, figures, and appendices. Confirm proper citation of sources and inclusion in references. Review responses to comments for accuracy and incorporation into revised deliverable. Ensure overall quality of deliverables.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of BS/BA degree.
- Minimum of 10 years of writing/editing experience.
- Minimum of intermediate skills with Microsoft Office 365 Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint).
- Work independently with limited guidance.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines/budgets and prioritize tasks.
- Professional communication with authors, project managers, and other reviewers.
- Regular communication with Editorial Group lead on availability and same-day response to emails and/or text messages.
- Willingness to learn and use the HGL Internal Style Manual, project-specific guidance (if provided), and corporate deliverable review management system.
- Must pass HGL editorial test that will be given to all candidates as part of the interview process (1 hour time limit).
- Preferred Skills
- Previous experience as an editor in the environmental industry.
- Previous experience as a government contractor.

- This specific role supports U.S. Federal government contracts which require employees engaged on these contracts to be U.S. citizens. A pre-hire drug test is required.
