Job Description

Commerce Editor

USA TODAY Co.

Role Description USA TODAY Co. is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Commerce Editor, Partnerships to lead the execution of partner-driven affiliate content across the USA TODAY Network. This editor will be responsible for writing, editing, and assigning content tied to key partnerships and revenue opportunities—ensuring high-quality editorial output that delivers measurable performance for partners and aligns with USA TODAY’s standards. This role reports to the Editorial Director of Shopping. This role sits at the center of editorial, revenue, and distribution—working closely with the content monetization team, business development, and newsroom partners to execute campaigns that drive audience engagement and positive return on investment (ROI) for partners. The ideal candidate is both an editor and a strategist: someone who understands how to create service-driven content that converts, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is motivated by performance and impact. What You’ll Do - Write, edit, and assign affiliate and partner-driven content across a range of verticals, ensuring quality, accuracy, and alignment with editorial standards. - Own end-to-end execution of partnership campaigns, from concept through publication and performance optimization. - Collaborate with the content monetization and business development teams to execute contracted partnerships and deliver on campaign goals. - Ensure all partner content achieves strong performance benchmarks, including traffic, engagement, and revenue outcomes. - Work closely with newsroom editors and audience teams to coordinate distribution strategies and maximize reach across the USA TODAY Network. - Identify opportunities to optimize existing content and partnerships using data, trends, and performance insights. - Develop scalable editorial workflows for partner content, improving speed, efficiency, and consistency. - Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across editorial, product, marketing, and revenue teams. - Ensure all content meets ethical, editorial, and brand standards while balancing commercial objectives. - Track and report on content performance, providing insights and recommendations to improve ROI and partner satisfaction. Qualifications - 3–6 years of experience in digital media, editorial, affiliate content, or commerce-focused roles. - Strong writing and editing skills, with experience producing service-driven or shopping-related content. - Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance content creation, editing workflows, and performance optimization while maintaining editorial integrity and standards. - Demonstrated experience working with affiliate programs, sponsored content, or brand partnerships. - Understanding of performance metrics such as conversions, click-through rate, and revenue per article. - Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including editorial, business development, and audience. - Deep familiarity with SEO best practices and content optimization. - Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously. - Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable editorial decisions. - Experience with CMS platforms, affiliate tools, and analytics platforms is a plus. - Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field preferred. How To Apply We are eager to learn more about you and how you fit this role. When you apply, don’t limit your upload to a resume; show us what you’ve done. To do so, put together a single document file that includes the following, in this order: - Your resume – one to two pages. - A cover letter that outlines how you would approach the job. - Links to 3-6 online samples of your work. Show us what you’ve produced or had a hand in that best reflects what you can do in your desired role. It is important that these items be assembled into a single document and uploaded in PDF format. Completing these steps will ensure that your application receives the highest consideration. Salary Information The annualized base salary for this role will range between $50,500 and $78,906. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable. Role Description We need a Shopify Technical Lead who can take full ownership of our Shopify projects — from receiving a client task to delivering a polished solution — without needing hand-holding.
