This role offers the opportunity to lead the design, development, and deployment of complex healthcare integrations that connect hospital EHR systems with advanced clinical data platforms. You will own integrations end-to-end, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable data flows that support both clinical and operational outcomes. The position blends hands-on technical work with executive engagement, enabling you to translate complex HL7v2 and FHIR specifications into solutions that drive measurable impact. You will collaborate closely with health system IT teams, interface analysts, and operational leaders while shaping interoperability strategies that scale across organizations. This is a fully remote role that empowers you to combine technical expertise, problem-solving, and strategic influence in a high-impact healthcare environment. Leading the architecture, design, and deployment of robust HL7v2 and FHIR interfaces with hospital EHRs such as Epic, Cerner, and Meditech. Managing integrations end-to-end, including specification development, data mapping, configuration, testing, go-live planning, and production stabilization. Partnering with CIOs, IT directors, interface teams, and operational stakeholders to align integration solutions with real-world workflows and strategic goals. Driving data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance to ensure integrity, completeness, and compliance. Designing reliable, observable, and maintainable integration solutions with monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks. Troubleshooting complex production issues, leading root cause analysis, and implementing durable solutions. Streamlining integration operations through automation of testing, validation, and deployment tasks. Advising product and engineering teams on schemas, mapping strategies, and integration tooling to enhance platform scalability and maintainability.

Job Requirements

  • 7–12+ years of experience building, deploying, and supporting HL7v2 interfaces at scale in hospital or health system environments.
  • Advanced Rhapsody architecture and operations experience, including modular design, maintainability, performance, and supportability best practices.
  • Proven expertise with FHIR R4 APIs, SMART on FHIR workflows, and scalable database extraction, validation, and reconciliation strategies.
  • Strong executive communication skills and ability to influence senior health system leaders while aligning technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript or Python for message transformation and workflow automation.
  • SQL fluency for data validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting across complex datasets.
  • Ability to define and execute plans with clear timelines, critical paths, risks, mitigations, and success metrics.
  • Autonomy, adaptability, and process improvement skills in dynamic, fast-moving environments.
  • Preferred: familiarity with clinical workflows, semantic interoperability standards, Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf, HL7/FHIR certifications, or prior startup experience.
