Argentina is one of our most important next frontiers. We're entering the market with high ambition and a small team that needs to move fast, learn quickly, and build trust from the ground up. We're hiring a People & Performance Partner to build the people foundation from zero to one. The roleYou'll partner with local leaders and the global P&P team to stand up the core people infrastructure for a new market — then keep raising the bar as the team scales. In practice, that means: - Establishing people processes, leadership rhythms, documentation, and workflows for a high-performing new market team - Coaching managers through feedback, performance conversations, development, and early employee relations matters - Owning onboarding quality so new starters understand the mission, operating model, and cultural bar from day one - Running people logistics — systems, documentation, compliance, and employee information - Supporting market-entry operations: office setup, field-team logistics, local vendor coordination, fleet and vehicle processes - Staying close to the ground and feeding signal back to People, Talent, Commercial, and leadership Responsibilities will evolve. This is an early-stage role — you'll be part of making the whole thing work. What great looks likeYou're a high-judgment operator who builds trust quickly, stays calm in complexity, and brings clarity to ambiguous situations. You can challenge managers directly, handle hard conversations without flinching, and hold a high performance bar without losing fairness or care. You know how to build from scratch. You don't need perfect systems to get started. You notice when things are missing or unclear — and you fix them. You bring absolute ownership to the work: you don't wait to be asked, you see what needs to happen and you make it happen. Most importantly, you're genuinely connected to the mission. The farmers, ranchers, and animals at the heart of Halter's work aren't an abstraction to you — they're the reason the bar stays high. What you'll bring - Experience in a People Partner, HRBP, or generalist people role - Strong judgment across performance, manager coaching, and employee relations - Experience building people processes, workflows, and operating rhythms - Operational discipline and attention to detail - Clear, direct communication in Spanish and English - Cultural fluency in Argentina and/or Uruguay - Comfort in fast-moving, high-standards environments - Grit, humility, and a bias toward action This role is a fit if you: - Like building before things are fully defined - Can move between strategic thinking and hands-on execution - Give and receive feedback directly — and help build a culture where others do the same - Believe people experience and performance are mutually reinforcing, not in tension - Are willing to challenge leaders when the standard is slipping - Want to help shape the culture of a new market from day one Why it mattersThe first people systems in a new market shape everything that follows. If we get this right, local hires will understand Halter's mission and standards from day one, managers will lead with clarity, and the team will move fast without creating people, compliance, or culture debt. This role helps make that happen. You'll be one of the people responsible for ensuring Halter's Argentine team isn't just hired — but built well. Join our teamHalter is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace — a place where we can each be ourselves and do the best work of our lives. Role Description We're looking for a People Partner who can move comfortably between the strategic and the operational: - Coaching a manager through a tough performance conversation. - Working through a benefits enrollment workflow. This is a hybrid HRBP and People Operations role, ideal for someone who enjoys both sides of the work. You'll serve as a trust partner to the head of people, connecting people, process, and policy. You'll own meaningful parts of our employee lifecycle and compliance work, with the latitude to redesign ineffective processes. We're a growing company in a complex industry, seeking someone who views that complexity as a rewarding opportunity. What you'll do - Employee relations & performance management: - Serve as a trusted advisor to managers on performance issues, employee concerns, and team dynamics. - Coach managers through difficult conversations — performance improvement plans, corrective action, and terminations. - Conduct investigations into employee complaints with care, neutrality, and rigorous documentation. - Benefits administration: - Own the day-to-day administration of our benefits programs: health (medical, dental, vision); retirement savings; and ancillary perks & benefits. - Run open enrollment, handle qualifying life events, and field employee questions. - Identify gaps or pain points in our benefits experience and propose fixes. - Compliance & workplace safety: - Keep us compliant across federal and multi-state employment law — FLSA, FMLA, ADA, state leave laws, pay transparency, and more. - Own workplace safety reporting, including OSHA logs, incident response, and required postings. - Maintain employee files, I-9s, and other regulated records. - Partner with the head of people & Legal to stay ahead of regulatory changes affecting a distributed, multi-state workforce. - People operations: - Improve and own processes behind the employee lifecycle — onboarding, offboarding, internal transfers, and leaves of absence. - Build self-service resources and documentation for managers and employees. - Process improvement & AI: - Evaluate workflows for efficiency — "could this be faster, simpler, or smarter?" - Use AI tools to automate documentation drafting, policy summarization, ticket triage, data analysis, and reporting. Qualifications - 4+ years of progressive experience in HR business partnering and people operations / HR generalist work. - Demonstrated experience handling employee relations cases end-to-end, including performance management, investigations, and terminations. - Hands-on experience administering benefits programs (medical, 401(k), leave) and running open enrollment. - Solid grounding in multi-state US employment compliance, including workplace safety reporting (OSHA recordkeeping, incident reporting, postings). - Experience in a startup or high-growth environment, comfortable with ambiguity and change. - Experience in hospitality, travel, vacation rentals, hotels, or a similar industry is a strong plus. - Fluency with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) and real examples of their use to improve work. - Excellent judgment, discretion, and follow-through. - Strong written communication skills. Requirements - PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification (nice to have). - Experience with ADP Workforce Now (nice to have). - Spanish language proficiency (nice to have). Benefits - Fully remote in the US, Central or Eastern time zones preferred. - Salary: $75,000–$82,500 USD per year, depending on experience and location. - Generous paid time off. - Generous company-sponsored insurance (medical, dental, vision, life, etc.). - Complimentary and discounted stays at AvantStay properties. - Paid parental leave. - Wellness stipend. - Cell phone stipend.
