Valuations Manager

• Lead the Valuations Team – Manage, coach, and develop valuation analysts while balancing workloads and ensuring service level expectations are met. • Oversee the Valuation Process – Direct the end-to-end collateral valuation process, including appraisal ordering, IVDs, BPOs, inspections, reviews, and final value determinations. • Ensure Quality & Compliance – Maintain adherence to company policies, investor guidelines, USPAP, and regulatory requirements through robust quality control procedures. • Manage Vendor Relationships – Oversee appraisers, appraisal management companies (AMCs), BPO providers, inspectors, and other valuation vendors, including performance, pricing, and SLAs. • Resolve Complex Collateral Issues – Review challenging valuation scenarios, appraisal disputes, reconsiderations of value (ROVs), rural and unique properties, and other escalated cases. • Partner with Cross-Functional Teams – Collaborate with Underwriting, Processing, Title, Closing, and Sales to resolve collateral-related issues and keep loans moving efficiently. • Monitor Performance Metrics – Track and report on KPIs such as turnaround times, revision rates, vendor performance, valuation costs, and quality metrics. • Drive Process Improvement – Identify operational bottlenecks and implement workflow improvements, automation, and standard operating procedures to increase efficiency and consistency. • Support Credit Decisioning – Provide collateral expertise and valuation guidance to Underwriting on loan structuring, LTV calculations, and collateral risk assessment. • Maintain Policies & Training – Develop valuation procedures, maintain documentation, and train staff on best practices, systems, and evolving valuation standards.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree.
  • 10+ years of progressive valuations experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in residential and/or commercial real estate valuation, preferably within private lending, Non-QM, mortgage banking, or financial services.
  • Proven leadership experience managing valuation operations, teams, and third-party vendors (e.g., appraisers, AMCs, BPO providers, inspectors).
  • Strong expertise in property valuation methodologies, including appraisal reviews, BPOs, AVMs/IVDs, collateral risk assessment, and complex valuation scenarios.
  • Solid understanding of USPAP, FIRREA, investor collateral guidelines, and mortgage lending practices.
  • Experience driving process improvements, quality control, KPI reporting, and cross-functional collaboration with Underwriting, Processing, Title, and Closing.
  • Stable, reliable internet connection.

  • Valuation & Lending Experience – 7+ years of residential and/or commercial real estate valuation experience within private lending, Non-QM, mortgage banking, or financial services, including leadership experience.
  • Collateral & Vendor Management – Expertise in appraisal reviews, BPOs, AVMs/IVDs, inspections, collateral risk assessment, and managing appraisers, AMCs, and other valuation vendors.
  • Operational & Regulatory Knowledge – Strong understanding of USPAP, investor collateral guidelines, mortgage lending practices, and cross-functional collaboration with Underwriting, Processing, Title, and Closing.
  • Attention to Detail – Ensures accuracy and consistency in valuations, reviews, and supporting documentation.
  • Decision Making – Makes timely, well-reasoned decisions on complex collateral issues while balancing risk and business objectives.
  • Communication – Clearly communicates valuation findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to Underwriting, Sales, and executive leadership.
  • Collaboration – Works effectively with Underwriting, Processing, Title, Closing, and external vendors to resolve issues and keep loans moving.
  • Real Estate Valuation Expertise – Strong knowledge of residential and commercial valuation methodologies, including appraisal review, BPOs, AVMs/IVDs, desktop valuations, and collateral risk assessment.
  • Appraisal & Regulatory Knowledge – Working knowledge of USPAP, FIRREA, investor collateral guidelines, and mortgage lending regulations governing property valuations.
  • Collateral Analysis – Ability to evaluate appraisals, comparable sales, market trends, legal descriptions, zoning, highest and best use, and title-related issues that impact collateral value.
  • Valuation Technology – Proficiency with industry valuation platforms such as CoStar, appraisal management systems (AMS), Loan Origination Systems (LOS), GIS/mapping tools, and advanced Microsoft Excel for valuation analysis and reporting.
  • Vendor & Quality Management – Experience managing appraisers, AMCs, BPO providers, and inspectors while monitoring quality, turnaround times, SLAs, and vendor performance.
  • Process Improvement & Analytics – Ability to develop SOPs, monitor KPIs, and leverage data to improve valuation quality, operational efficiency, and decision-making.

Title: Contracts Manager Location: Leesburg, VA Job Description: The Building People, LLC, is seeking a Contracts Manager at our headquarters office in Leesburg VA. This position requires expertise in all phases of Federal Government contract administration, including but not limited to compliance, risk management, negotiation and quality control. Our rapidly growing firm currently employs more than 400 employees and the successful candidate will, with the Director of Contracts, be responsible for managing and overseeing all contractual actions while setting the standard for quality delivery. Critical path items include the need to thoroughly review and provide input to Solicitations and Requests for Proposal, Contract award review, set up and administration (inclusive of the administration and negotiation of other various types of agreements such as subcontracts and consulting agreements) through contract closeout. Candidate will serve a company liaison with Government Contracting Officers, Commercial Partners, Program Managers, technical leaders, and various internal functional groups including Accounting and Finance teams.
