Role Description This Agency Public Records Coordinator position is eligible for full-time telework; however, occasional in-office presence may be required based on business needs. The duty station for this role is Maple Park in Olympia, and the anticipated start date is September 1, 2026. The salary listed above includes the scheduled 2% general salary increase that goes into effect on July 1, 2026. The ideal candidate is motivated by supporting the Office of Organizational Risk and contributing to the agency’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and legal compliance. This individual excels at: - Independently conducting complex, agency-wide records searches. - Collaborating with staff at all levels, other public agencies, and members of the public. - Distinguishing between public disclosure requests and litigation discovery. - Applying state, federal, and case law—including RCW 42.56—to ensure accurate review, redaction, and release of records. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who: - Confidently manages routine issues while recognizing when to elevate high-profile or complex matters to the Public Records Officer. - Thrives in a structured, high-volume environment. - Maintains organized and consistent systems for records management. - Demonstrates professionalism, clarity, and sound judgment in every interaction. Qualifications - Option 1: Six (6) years of experience including planning, policy analysis, coordination and consultation with a variety of public and private agencies, organizations, and/or levels of government. - Option 2: Associate’s degree and Four (4) years of experience including planning, policy analysis, coordination and consultation with a variety of public and private agencies, organizations, and/or levels of government. - Option 3: Bachelor’s degree and Two (2) years of experience including planning, policy analysis, coordination and consultation with a variety of public and private agencies, organizations, and/or levels of government. Role Description This role directly serves as a critical bridge between autonomous vehicle (AV) operations and the municipal emergency management community. Success in this position strengthens partnerships, enhances public safety outcomes, and reduces risk during emergency and event interactions. As a Public Safety Liaison, you will be responsible for fostering trust and collaboration between corporations, emergency management, and public safety agencies. This role will require both proactive and reactive functions to ensure effective engagement, training, and emergency management. An effective Public Safety Liaison will enhance preparedness and improve coordination across multiple organizations, including local emergency management, traffic management authorities, and airports. It also requires working closely with and in parallel to the Crisis24 First Responder Ambassador Team, who lead and manage all relationships with Law Enforcement and Fire/EMS agencies and leaders. During disasters or very large special events, the role will work directly with the local jurisdiction’s emergency management functions to facilitate information exchange, operational decon coordination, resource coordination, and public messaging synchronization. Key Responsibilities - Build and maintain relationships and partnerships with a range of public safety and community organizations to strengthen trust and understanding of autonomous vehicle (AV) operations. - Participate in classroom, field-based, and virtual training sessions on emergency preparedness, incident response, crisis management, and recovery operations as it relates to autonomously driven vehicles. - Conduct drills, tabletop exercises, and full-scale simulations to assess readiness and identify improvement areas. - Serve as a subject matter expert in emergency management practices, policies, and procedures. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate emergency preparedness into organizational operations. - Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal emergency management regulations and standards. - Support real-world incident response when required, providing guidance and coordination as needed. - Educate public safety agencies on how emerging transportation technologies operate, how they respond during emergency situations, and the best practices for safe and effective interaction. - Work closely with municipal public safety officials to ensure the safe introduction of emerging transportation technology. - Build trust, enhance safety and foster collaboration. - Apply a technical understanding of new transportation technologies to support incident response and provide clear, concise information to emergency management personnel.
