Role Description We are seeking an experienced engineer with deep expertise in Azure Cosmos DB to help design, optimize, and modernize enterprise applications. This role is heavily focused on Cosmos DB architecture, data modeling, migrations, and performance optimization rather than traditional data engineering. - Design and implement scalable solutions using Azure Cosmos DB. - Lead migrations from Microsoft SQL Server to Azure Cosmos DB. - Design document models, partition key strategies, indexing policies, and schema evolution. - Optimize Cosmos DB performance, scalability, throughput (RU/s), and cost. - Implement Change Data Capture (CDC) solutions using Debezium. - Design and support event-driven architectures, including event schema design and versioning. - Collaborate with engineering teams to build reliable, cloud-native applications. Qualifications - Deep hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB. - Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server. - Experience migrating relational databases to Cosmos DB. - Expertise in document database design, partitioning strategies, indexing policies, performance tuning, RU optimization, and consistency models. - Experience with CDC and Debezium. - Strong knowledge of Event-Driven Architecture and event schema design. Requirements - Nice to have: HCM, payroll, benefits, or tax domain experience. - Familiarity with Azure Service Bus, Azure Container Apps, or Terraform. - Background working in a formal modernization or re-platforming program. • Take an active part in determining the roadmap for the Product Metrics team • Work closely within the team to deliver new features, iterate and improve them • Design, build, operate, and maintain business-critical petabyte-scale systems • Be responsible for the performance, reliability, availability and cost-efficiency of the Product Metrics systems • Mentor and support other team members, participate in design discussions and collaborate with the team • Be a part of on-call rotation and take ownership of the services you're running
