Job Description

Accounts Receivable Coordinator

Merakey

This role involves monitoring, analyzing, evaluating, and re-billing claims that impact reimbursement issues related to collections. The Accounts Receivable Coordinator displays good judgement, initiative, and resourcefulness while working in a collaborative environment. Responsible for accounts receivable follow-up of assigned payers. Review rejections, make necessary corrections, and re-bill or adjust claims. Contact insurance carriers or other responsible parties to confirm payment dates, question claim rejections, or question unprocessed claims. Maintain accounts receivable goals of assigned payers. Review appropriate action for completed refunds/credit balances. Record all pertinent comments and follow up accordingly, adhering to management guidelines. Assist with special projects when requested. Handle confidential information with discretion and diplomacy. Perform all other duties as assigned related to billing and collections.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year experience in medical billing.
  • Strong PC skills utilizing all aspects of Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel.
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of insurance billing requirements for third party payers.
  • Ability to work independently and in group settings.
  • Two years' accounts receivable experience is preferred.
