Senior Designer

OLIVER Agency - North America

Role Description You'll be the visual storyteller behind design work that makes the client unmistakable in crowded feeds. Working at the intersection of brand strategy and creative execution, you'll translate consumer insights, campaign briefs, and the client's brand purpose into visuals that feel authentic, inclusive, and distinctive across every format and platform. We're looking for someone who combines strong conceptual thinking with hands-on design craft — someone who can develop a big idea and execute it beautifully across social, digital, and, where needed, OOH and POS touchpoints. You'll guide and mentor a team of designers and content creators, elevating the standard of social-first design while integrating Gen AI tools thoughtfully into the creative process. Success means design work that captures attention, strengthens the client's brand equity, and delivers measurable results. Work that audiences recognise as unmistakably the client's — before they even see the logo. What you will be doing: - Lead the visual direction for the client's social-first content and campaigns, developing strong conceptual ideas that differentiate the brand and perform across platforms. - Design and produce social-first assets across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and emerging channels, ensuring every piece of content is platform-native, on-brand, and crafted to the highest standard. - Develop visual concepts that flex across multiple touchpoints — from social formats to digital display, CRM, OOH, and POS where required. - Embed conceptual thinking throughout the creative process, from briefing to execution, ensuring design solutions are rooted in insight and purpose rather than decoration. - Art direct photography, video, and content shoots, guiding the visual treatment, styling, and composition to reflect the client's brand world authentically and inclusively. - Build, mentor, and guide designers and content creators within the studio, fostering a culture of social-first excellence, collaborative feedback, and continuous improvement. - Collaborate with strategists, copywriters, social media managers, and the client's brand team to develop integrated campaign assets that are visually cohesive and strategically aligned. - Transform the client's brand guidelines into distinctive, ownable executions that resonate with diverse audiences and feel relevant to the platforms and cultural context they appear in. - Lead the thoughtful integration of Gen AI tools into the design and content creation process, using them to enhance ideation, exploration, and production without compromising craft or authenticity. - Develop platform-specific design initiatives that leverage the unique strengths and visual language of each social channel. - Stay ahead of social platform algorithms, features, design trends, and audience behaviours to ensure the client's visual output remains current and distinctive. - Manage multiple projects with varying timelines, formats, and platform requirements, maintaining quality and consistency under pressure. Qualifications - A strong portfolio demonstrating social-first design thinking and execution for consumer brands, with clear examples of conceptual thinking translated into multi-platform visual work. - Deep understanding of social platform behaviours, content formats, and visual performance factors across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and emerging channels. - Strong conceptual ability, with a track record of developing ideas that translate into compelling visual work across multiple touchpoints. - Visual storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate brand purpose, emotion, and product messaging through design that feels authentic and culturally relevant. - Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects) and Figma, with strong proficiency in producing assets at social speed. - Experience art directing photography, video, or content shoots, with an eye for composition, styling, and inclusive visual representation. - Proven ability to lead and mentor designers and content creators, providing clear direction, constructive feedback, and creative inspiration. - Experience creating native content and design systems for key social platforms, with an understanding of specs, safe zones, and format best practices. - Confidence presenting concepts to clients and stakeholders with clear rationale and conviction. - The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing quality, speed, and competing priorities. - An understanding of inclusive design and visual representation, with experience or a strong interest in creating work that reflects diverse audiences authentically. - Professional proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus. Requirements - Req ID: 18047 - Salary Range: $89,250 — $99,750 CAD Benefits - Equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive working environment. - Ambitious environmental goals around sustainability, with science-based emissions reduction targets.
