Role Description Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) is seeking a Corporate & Investment Banking Associate to join our Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) Coverage. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex, high-profile transactions, lead critical workstreams, and partner with senior bankers to deliver strategic financing solutions for corporate clients and financial sponsors in the TMT sector. Role Objectives: Delivery Key Responsibilities - Client Engagement: Support senior bankers in managing client relationships, identifying strategic opportunities, and driving cross-sell initiatives across SMBC’s product suite. - Origination & Marketing: In collaboration with senior bankers, take the lead in generation of high-impact content and pitch materials, including compelling presentations, marketing collateral, and innovative financing ideas across the capital structure. - Market & Sector Research: Monitor industry trends, analyze competitive dynamics, and contribute to strategic discussions through well-researched insights and presentations. - Deal Execution: Coordinate due diligence processes, manage documentation, and oversee internal approval workflows for lending and capital markets transactions. - Collaboration: Work closely with product partners across the bank including Debt Capital Markets, Project Finance, Derivatives, Leveraged Finance, Equity Capital Markets, Cash Management, Leasing Finance, Trade Finance, and Lending Management to deliver integrated solutions tailored to client needs.
