Role Description This assignment posting is for an Agency Worker opportunity with People Inc. The Agency Worker is paid by a staffing agency employer. Agency Workers will receive a W2 from the staffing agency reporting their earnings for tax purposes. People Inc. is looking for a remote writer to write and produce timely content for Southern Living. As a writer, you will be given assignments and will write and produce those pieces in the CMS. Successful candidates for this position will be passionate and knowledgeable about home, garden, food, and other lifestyle content and have availability in the Central Time Zone. We are looking for writers who can commit to at least 10 hours of work per week. The rate of pay for this role is $25/hr. Applicants must live in the United States. - Write timely content for publication on Southern Living. Qualifications - At least 2 years of experience writing or editing home or lifestyle media, preferably for a news publication or magazine. - Comfortable with internet research and creating/tracking Google alerts. - Journalism experience required. - Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to adopt an established brand voice and adhere to style guidelines. - Comfortable with content management systems. - Detail-oriented and able to work efficiently, independently, and accurately. - Comfortable working remotely. - Access to a smartphone, computer (not a tablet), and a secure internet connection. - An interest in lifestyle writing and Southern culture. Role Description In AAAS’s gold open access journal Science Advances, Editorial Coordinators (ECs) play a wide range of critical roles in the processing of the individual manuscripts that comprise the journal each week. ECs work collaboratively with a team of Senior Editorial Coordinators, Editorial Associates, and Editorial Managers to process manuscripts from submission to end publication, serving as points of contact and problem-solvers for internal editorial and production staff as well as external editors, authors, and reviewers. To achieve their goal of maintaining rapid, high-quality processing of manuscripts, ECs interact with external authors, editors, and reviewers on a daily basis by: - Answering questions - Assisting with the peer review process - Ensuring quality of final galley proofs They also communicate and coordinate with internal staff and vendors to identify and help address problems so that manuscripts move smoothly through the review and production system according to institutional standards and guidelines. ECs are responsible for managing submissions for 1-2 Deputy Editor groups. Location Requirement: This position is remote; however, candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area.
