Insurance Clearance Representative Senior

Role Description The role involves acquiring and maintaining knowledge of payor requirements related to patient/hospital responsibility for authorizations and hospital billing. Key responsibilities include: - Performing insurance authorization of inpatient and outpatient services by collecting and analyzing clinical data. - Consulting with patients and departments regarding uninsured status, uncovered services, and next steps. - Maintaining knowledge of software programs for eligibility and authorization verification. - Ensuring compliance with policies for Primary Care Physician notification in HMO coverage cases. - Managing incoming and outgoing calls for pre-registration with patients. - Generating and processing required documents for patient registration. - Participating in department meetings and continuing education for skill competency. - Maintaining confidentiality of patient records in accordance with HIPAA and compliance policies. Qualifications - High School Graduate. - Typically requires 2 years of experience in health care, insurance, call center, or customer service. Requirements - Ability to problem solve in a high-profile and high-stress area. - Ability to prioritize and organize workload. - Mathematical aptitude, effective communication, and critical thinking skills. - Understanding of basic human anatomy and medical terminology. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - General computer knowledge. - Must be able to sit most of the workday. - May include intermittent light travel.
