Role Description We are seeking an experienced Data Conversion Lead to oversee the planning, execution, and governance of data migration activities for a large-scale Epic electronic health record (EHR) implementation. This individual will be responsible for leading end-to-end conversion efforts across multiple legacy systems, ensuring the accurate, secure, and timely migration of clinical and operational data into the Epic environment. The ideal candidate has successfully led data conversion activities for at least one, and preferably multiple, Epic implementations within the past 24 months and possesses deep expertise in healthcare data interoperability, interface technologies, and Continuity of Care Documents (CCD). This role requires close collaboration with application teams, interface developers, technical architects, third-party vendors, and operational stakeholders to deliver high-quality conversion outcomes that support patient care and business continuity. Key Responsibilities - Lead the overall data conversion strategy, planning, execution, and governance for Epic implementation projects. - Manage the extraction, mapping, transformation, validation, and loading of data from multiple legacy source systems into the Epic environment. - Coordinate conversion activities across technical teams, application analysts, interface developers, vendors, and business stakeholders. - Develop and maintain conversion plans, timelines, issue logs, risk assessments, and status reports. - Define and oversee data mapping specifications, transformation rules, reconciliation processes, and quality assurance activities. - Provide subject matter expertise on Continuity of Care Documents (CCD) and other healthcare interoperability standards to support clinical data migration. - Partner with interface teams to leverage technologies such as Epic Bridges and ensure effective integration between legacy systems and Epic. - Lead mock conversions, testing cycles, data validation sessions, defect resolution, production cutover planning, and post-conversion reconciliation. - Monitor data quality and integrity throughout the migration lifecycle, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with organizational standards. - Identify risks and dependencies early and implement mitigation strategies to support successful project delivery. - Collaborate closely with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to support go-live readiness and post-implementation stabilization. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent experience. - 7+ years of healthcare IT, EHR implementation, or data conversion experience. - Proven experience leading data conversion efforts for at least one Epic implementation completed within the past 24 months; experience leading multiple Epic implementations is strongly preferred. - Extensive experience working with multiple legacy data sources and complex healthcare datasets. - Strong understanding of Epic data conversion methodologies and implementation lifecycles. - Deep knowledge of Continuity of Care Documents (CCD) and their application in clinical data migration. - Hands-on experience with interface technologies, including Epic Bridges or comparable interface engines, and an understanding of their capabilities and limitations. - Expertise in data mapping, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution. - Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality results within aggressive project timelines. - Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with a strong commitment to data integrity and operational excellence. Preferred Qualifications - Experience leading enterprise-scale Epic data conversion initiatives across multiple hospitals or healthcare organizations. - Knowledge of HL7 messaging standards, FHIR concepts, and other healthcare interoperability frameworks. - Experience migrating clinical, revenue cycle, patient access, and ancillary system data into Epic. - Familiarity with vendor-managed conversion activities and third-party integration projects. - Epic certifications or implementation experience in technical or interoperability-focused roles. - Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders, proactively manage risks, and support successful go-live and stabilization activities.
