Role Description As a Fuel Handling Equipment Field Service Technician, you will help support our FHE Outage and Maintenance Services team. You will provide support for nuclear fuel handling equipment or outage critical cranes, conducting field service support at remote operating nuclear power plants and local service center operations. You will use high technology service equipment in a manner reflecting Westinghouse's commitment to the highest levels of safety and quality. You will report to the Fuel Handling Equipment Outage and Maintenance Supervisor. This is a remote role that can be performed from anywhere in the United States but does require significant travel. Projects are 2-4 weeks but during Spring and Fall may involve traveling 2 to 3 months at a time before going home to reset. Key Responsibilities: - Install, set-up, and maintain fuel handling/outage critical crane equipment at customer sites worldwide. - Review operational procedures, maintenance procedures, and drawings in detail. - Provide support to engineering and training by performing activities such as: - Equipment modifications - Equipment setup and testing - Mock-up preparation - Process testing - Equipment and process qualifications - Document equipment performance issues during field implementation, and ensure corrective actions are complete before next scheduled use. - Participate in training programs to acquire and maintain certifications and keep current with technology and procedures. - Perform all assigned tasks with support, with a high degree of quality, and within the parameters of qualified procedures and guidelines. Document all quality related issues. - Practice a "Safety First" attitude as an important part of all activities. Demonstrate good housekeeping practices in work areas. - Maintain "Unescorted Access" status at nuclear power plant sites. - Develop, exercise and promote team-building skills with peers, supervisors, contractors, customers and other departments. Demonstrate good customer sensitivity. - Report to the service supervisor the status of field work progress, changes, problems, and mistakes on a daily or as needed basis. - Extensive travel by airplane and automobile (60%-70%) and work with and around hazardous materials. Qualifications - High school graduate or the recognized equivalent plus 2 year, post high school degree/certificate or equivalent in experience. - Specific knowledge and training in electrical, electronic, programmable logic controller, or mechanical components. - 4 or more years of experience where satisfactorily demonstrated evidence of mechanical, electrical and programmable logic controller knowledge and skill. Nuclear industry experience is beneficial. - This position is subject to the requirements of Westinghouse and customer security, unescorted access, and fitness for responsibility programs. - Requires the ability to occasionally carry/lift up to 50 pounds. - Individual must have full range of motion i.e. ability to reach, climb, kneel, squat, grasp, bend forwards and backwards, sit, and stand for 4 hours per day. - Must pass a Westinghouse physical which includes a spirometer for the ability to wear a respirator. Role Description Our Field Service Technicians keep our customers running. This position deals with every aspect of a petroleum system, starting with the above-ground tanks, pumps, monitors, fuel dispensers, and the point-of-sale systems on the tanks. Most days are spent diagnosing, triaging, repairing/replacing broken parts on tanks in the area. In addition to working with the crew on installations of new equipment/sites. The tank technician will be travelling to Fort St John, Grand Prairie, and Northern BC as required. Your Schedule: Full-time rotating schedule, 14/7 or 10/4 shifts with an average of 10-hour days. Depending on where you live, this can be a remote position where you start and end the day from your home. What you will do day-to-day: - Take daily directions from the supervisor on the task to be performed. - Complete preventative maintenance on fueling tanks and systems. - Install, test new plumbing on tank setups at customer sites. - Analyze electrical and mechanical problems on fuel equipment and repair as required. - Housekeeping activities to maintain a professional image and ensure safe operations. - This role requires a significant amount of travel from site to site in a supplied company truck. - Accurately complete all necessary forms – work orders, inventory, checklists, reports, etc. - Communicate with customers and explain technical issues in a non-technical manner. - Stock and Track parts inventory in your vehicle to ensure materials are billed to the jobs. - Respond to after-hours emergency service requests for "site down" or other priority situations.
