Robotic and Mechanized Welding Application Engineer

Enovis

• Conduct and facilitate extended product demonstrations and proof-of-concept installations for prospective and existing customers, ensuring technical accuracy and customer satisfaction throughout the demonstration process. • Provide technical expertise in the integration of EWM and robotic welding systems into customer production environments, including system configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting. • Support customer pilot projects from concept through execution, ensuring project milestones are met, technical requirements are satisfied, and customers achieve desired outcomes and return on investment. • Perform on-site troubleshooting, system configuration, software setup, and optimization of robotic welding equipment and associated workflow solutions to achieve target performance metrics. • Document demonstration results, customer feedback, technical findings, and lessons learned; provide this documentation to Sales and Engineering teams to inform future installations and sales strategies. • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, and Engineering teams to identify customer requirements, develop tailored solution proposals, and ensure alignment between customer needs and product capabilities. • Travel to customer sites across Mexico and North America to support installations, provide on-site training, oversee technical demonstrations, and serve as the primary technical point of contact for complex projects. • Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, training materials, standard operating procedures, and customer guidance to support solution adoption and successful long-term customer operations. • Identify and recommend opportunities to expand solution adoption and scalability across the customer base, contributing to pipeline development and revenue growth initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field; OR equivalent professional experience (5+ years) in robotic welding or industrial automation
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on, direct experience with robotic welding systems, CNC equipment, or industrial automation in production environments
  • Demonstrated expertise in welding technology, robotic programming, and automated manufacturing processes
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical integration in production and laboratory environments
  • Proficiency with welding control systems, software interfaces, and programming platforms commonly used in robotic welding
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences (engineers, operators, executives, customers)
  • Proven experience conducting technical demonstrations, product training, and customer education in technical or manufacturing settings
  • Ability to troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical systems independently and collaboratively
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Valid driver's license and willingness/ability to travel domestically and internationally 30-40% of the time

Role Description Are you a hands-on problem solver with a knack for both mechanical and electrical systems? Do you enjoy traveling, working directly with customers, and making things work better? As a Field Service Technician III at Global Finishing Solutions (GFS), you’ll be the face of a premium brand trusted across the refinishing industry. You won’t just install equipment; you’ll help people succeed in their business every day. You’ll install, troubleshoot, and maintain our industry-leading paint booths and finishing systems, while training customers and ensuring they get the most out of their investment. Every day is different, every challenge is unique, and your work truly matters. - Put your technical skills to work by troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and upgrading complex mechanical and electrical equipment. - Program and commission VFDs, PLCs, and HMIs to keep our customers' systems running at peak performance. - Turn blueprints, electrical schematics, and P&IDs into reality by guiding contractors through the installation and wiring of control systems, including temperature, humidity, combustible gas, and other critical sensors. - Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify equipment issues, determine root causes, and get customers back up and running with confidence. - Lead classroom and hands-on training for customers while mentoring fellow Field Service Technicians to build knowledge and strengthen the team. - Implement field improvements to controls, electrical systems, air replacement equipment, and other mechanical components. - Partner with our Engineering team to turn real-world feedback into product enhancements. Qualifications - An Associate's degree in a technical field and 6–8 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting industrial equipment. (Equivalent experience may be substituted at a rate of two years of experience for each year of education.) - A strong understanding of electrical controls, PLCs, mechanical systems, and industrial equipment. - A natural ability to troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems and solve problems in the field with confidence. - Experience making field modifications to electrical controls and mechanical systems to improve equipment performance. - Strong customer service and communication skills—you enjoy building relationships and helping customers succeed. - The ability to clearly document service work and complete accurate reports in a timely manner. - A passion for sharing knowledge by coaching and training junior technicians in the field. - Experience safely operating forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other industrial equipment. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other standard business software. - Fall Protection and Electrical Safety training or certification (preferred). - Experience working in confined spaces and following all applicable safety procedures.
