Field Services Engineer

Role Description The Field Engineer will be responsible for onsite installation of motors and variable speed drives systems and equipment and ongoing preventive maintenance, repair and calibration after installation. The role includes providing technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at customer's sites. Key Responsibilities - Perform on-site installation, commissioning, refurbishment, startup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of synchronous and induction machines and excitation & AVR systems and variable speed drives systems. - Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services. - Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at customer's sites. - Write technical reports, order materials, secure quotations, prepare job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets, and expense sheets on a complete, timely, and thorough basis. - Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites. - Maintain a strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards. - Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and as a reference for future outages. Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university. - Minimum of 5 years of variable speed drives systems field experience. Requirements - Ability and willingness to travel approximately 70% of the time, as required. - Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. - Ability and willingness to work remotely, as required. - Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision. - Good customer service mindset. - Prior field engineering experience. - Strong organizational skills. - Good oral and written communication skills. - Prior experience with variable speed drives systems.
